Re: LM 20.0 an utter disaster on less than latest hardware.

Hmmmmmmm, I'm running a Core 2 quad which must be circa 2009 and an i5 which must be circa 2012 nonproblematically, indeed I'm happy with the performances.

Re: Linux Mint 20 “Ulyana” MATE released!

I've had a Dell laptop in need of an install for a few weeks, thought I might as well wait for the release of 20. I don't upgrade for upgrades sake and the other four machines here will stay on 19.3. It's fast, smooth and no issues, it's a joy to use. Another solid release, congratulations and thank...

Re: How to install Waterfox in 5 simple steps

Seemingly controversial with view to snapd. From the May monthly news... Snap We also heard your queries on the topic of snapd. This is a topic which is important to us and we already explained our position last year: […] as you install APT updates, Snap becomes a requirement for you to continue to ...

Re: upgrade Linux Mint 20 “Ulyana”

The first question to ask is do I need to upgrade. Mint 19 will work perfectly well for another three years. I will be doing an install of 20 as I have a laptop that needs an install and seeing as 20 is so close it makes sense to wait, but the four other machines here will continue to run 19.3 as it...

Re: Alternative Desktops

It's nice to have a choice, just settle for one that works for you which for me is Mate.

The whole Mint scene is breath of fresh air, thank you to all involved in making it so.

Re: Cannot Install Updates

Then I was correct in my initial assumption that the error message 'Cannot Install Updates' is itself an error.

Thank you everybody.

I will delay a while before marking the thread solved.

Cannot Install Updates (SOLVED)

19.3 Mate Update manager picks up updates as normal, when I install the updates I get the message 'Cannot Install Updates'. When I check history of updates the update is listed as installed and refresh shows no updates available - The update is not installed though, example: Yesterday I installed ke...

Re: Lost right click

So some things to try... 1) Switching to a different touch pad driver - see https://linuxmint.com/rel_tricia_mate.php or 2) Updating to the HWE versions of the touchpad drivers E.g. assuming sticking with libinput apt install xserver-xorg-input-all-hwe-18.04 xserver-xorg-input-libinput-hwe-18.04 Th...

Re: Lost right click

On the desktop I can open a folder with right click but again no menu So a single right click will open a folder on the desktop? Almost sounds like right click is being treated as left. Are you mouse or touchpad? Single right click on a folder on the desktop highlights the folder name, double right...

Re: Lost right click

I don't have thunderbird set up to test that unfortunately. Have you got a right click context menu on the panel, in a terminal window etc? In the terminal window precisely the same as in Thunderbird, ie if I type in a few characters I can highlight them with right click but no right click menu. On...

Re: Automatic Login Field Filling Issue

This is now NOT SOLVED, I wonder if that's a first ? It appears that ebay have now withdrawn their old login page so the problem has returned of it being not possible to type in either the Username or Password fields making it impossible to sign in. I am unable to sign in on any of Firefox, Chromium...

SSD Trim

What's the default with SSD Trim in LMDE3 ?

It's possible to set trim as a weekly task but it likely won't defer to run later if the PC is off when it's scheduled.

Does anybody use a better method ?

Re: [SOLVED] Automatic Login Field Filling Issue

This turned out to be an issue with a new ebay login page and nothing to do with Linux Mint.

The old login page works as it always did... https://signin.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SellItem
