Re: NAS mount fstab

The vers=1.0 from your second line is probably the issue (as in, needed) but why did you in that one use the syntax //192.169.1.8/WORKGROUP;Download rather than just //192.168.1.8/Download as before? That was just many of the things I tried, as that was what it looked to me as what Gigolo was using...

Re: Adding NAS to Conky

Woops sorry pasted wrong line that was part of an old code. Correction: sudo mount -t cifs //192.168.1.9/Download /media/NAS1 -o username=xxxxxx,password=xxxxxx,nounix,uid=1000 If that mounted then: sudo mkdir /media/NAS1 Then I add line in fstab: //192.168.1.9/Download /media/NAS1 cifs username=xx...

Adding NAS to Conky

Ok I been playing with Conky now for months, 4 different Distro's and numerous hardware config's. Most every situation I could search and dig and figure out what I needed. But on my recent build I got everything working but one that worked for every other Distro I used it on previously. Using Conky ...

Re: Preferred least trouble free GPU for Mint 19.1

Have you looked at the nvidia driver site to see which driver they recommend? https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us As far as I can see, the recommended driver for the GTS 450 is version 390.87 It would be easier to install any nvidia driver by using the Driver Manager in your main ...

Re: Preferred least trouble free GPU for Mint 19.1 [SOLVED]

Finally got driver and CUDA on Boinc to work (as in Boinc see's the nVIdia card as such) in LM 19 Tara. Instead of always crashing Cinnamon tring to install the nVIdia 304. driver it used to use in Pre ver.19 LM distro's. Hardware Scenario: https://pastebin.com/zj2jYQ0p it's a Geforce GTS-450 PCIe. ...

Re: Mint 19 update broke cifs mount

Does it have to mount at /media/NAS1? If you do a gio mount like the file manager does is it a possible solution: gio mount smb://myip/Download You should get a "download on myip" icon on the desktop. If that works for you then instead of having anything in fstab which would avoid this peculiar Min...

Preferred least trouble free GPU for Mint 19.1

Ok not sure anyone can answer this but here goes. I have an older mother board that only has AGP PCI slot. I have an older nVidia card that needs the 304.107 driver, runs fine with the nouveau driver except that it is not found by boinc. Is there such a thing as a PCI card that would be a none issue...

Re: More Update madness [SOLVED]

That's the plan no more kernel updates gonna have to figure out how to blacklist video driver changes as well. Still can't believe this box hasn't died yet,
but it keeps on keeping on.
And thanks for reply, awesome forum.

Re: Mint 19 update broke cifs mount

Well after all attempts to get it up, re-install is in progress, well see what that will bring. I think I will try all updates and upgrades first and then try the mounts again and see what happens.

Won't do anything at this point. I did also t...

Re: Mint 19 update broke cifs mount

OK searching through /var/log/kern.log I find the following, I assume the last part of the line is the key. https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/3SFzZzxpwd/ I assume I need to do this "specify vers=1.0 on mount" in fstab or change the way cifs is called in the syntax. Just not sure how to do that as I am some...
