Re: WireGuard VPN in Linux kernel

One cannot change WG crypto, what if that gets compromised?

The comparison with OpenVPN is flawed, OpenVPN is way, way more configurable (and Layer 2/3).

It will have/get a place though, it's just another added tool.
Personally, I don't like this competitive behaviour, talking other apps down...

Re: Thunderbird Mail: bad image quality in displayed attachments

Regarding checksum of the picture:

Code: Select all

# sha256sum pic.png
497e0e66e66065cd71b9035fac4410a72a75ccd9b3a3207807c70249959f0822 pic.png
This checksum is unique and can be used to verify that pic.png is original.

Re: Green and nuclear power

Traditional nuclear power is a dead end, in my opinion: the radioactive waste is dangerous for up to a million years, which is uncontrollably and irresponsibly long. It's plain crazy to assume that you can keep it stowed away safely for so long. With a bit of luck the SAFIRE project has found a pos...

"tin foil hat" crowd will never agree
Yeah, once one knows what's happening on a deeper network level one starts to understand.
It's this from previous thread:

Auxiliary Generators are not Frequency Stabil
Yeah, a known problem. Due the mechanical inertia from generator cannot keep up with the variance occurring when electrical load changes.

Re: GFCI is a PITA

Also, code here requires breakers to break both live and neutral conductors which, while not causing problems, is a bit of overkill because of cost and doubling the space needed at the panel. It is not the case in America and I see it is not required in the Netherlands either. Correction, it is req...

Re: GFCI is a PITA

By the way, the code is not equal to law here. It's not my area of expertise anymore but know a fair bit about the code. So all outlets are of the grounded Schucko type? Yes, older buildings still have ungrounded outlet (following old code). But if do a renovation it must be updated to current code,...

Re: GFCI is a PITA

Europlugs are good for what they do but I dislike the code in Spain which requires some circuits to have GND connection (Shucko) and others not (europlug). Over here basically everything has to be grounded, wall outlets and where lighting can be mounted, no exception. Only devices that are double i...

Re: GFCI is a PITA

Here in the Netherlands, 4x16A (230V) breakers are allowed per GFCI (40A/30mA) in "normal" houses. The complete electrical installation is protected by one or more GFCIs. Re: Peer to Peer Network, how to get linux machine to handout IP's

Nowadays you don't need a cross-over cable. If it is only to connect directly you could also: Give the pi an address, for example 192.168.150.10 255.255.255.0, gateway can be omitted or 192.168.150.1 Give Mint an address in the same subnet, 192.168.150.20 255.255.255.0, gateway can be omitted or 192...

Re: Controversy surrounding Mint sponsor, Private Internet Access

Mitigations w.r.t. privacy/tracking will make one even more fingerprintable and unique, one will stand out from the rest not using it which is the majority.
