Re: Is my Intel Optain memory used by Mint?

I see. I can understand that once Windows makes use of it, Linux could/should not make use of it too.
Then, if I were to make Windows not to use it, how could Linux make use of it?

Is my Intel Optain memory used by Mint?

Windows uses it as a cache to speed up HDD processes. Does Mint do this by default?
If so, is there a way to confirm it?

Thanks guys

Re: Why WGET only downloads 2 files?

@murray, I hope you know about HTTrack because I am not getting any replies from their forum :( I need to backup my website, which is made with Sitebuilder. As with WGET, I was not able to go very far :( This is the log: HTTrack3.49-2 launched on Tue, 26 Nov 2019 16:59:59 at http://email@address.com...

What are you trying to do? Download all the assets from the website? If so try using something like HTTrack Website Copier.
Thanks murray, I'll have a look...

Re: Why WGET only downloads 2 files?

First off, that's not cool, because by trying to be smart and changing the URL you wasted both Flemur's and my time. In the future please provide accurate problem descriptions up front (or mention that you doctored your logs), doing it like you did helps nobody. I couldn't agree more. I'm sincerely...

Re: Why WGET only downloads 2 files?

Aside from your command line being wrong (the inf has no place there) your problem is your DNS server giving you the wrong IP for that site. Ok, then how to go about it? I did try without "inf", and I'll show here the log using my "actual" website URL: --2019-11-24 23:00:53-- http://www.javierwebfo...

Why WGET only downloads 2 files?

What can I do to get more than 2 files? How to test a video card?

I am interested in buying a video card (GTX 1080 FTW) from someone I don't know.
He says he'll have it running on a computer when I go pick it up.
Should I ask him to run a benchmark software or something like that?
I want it for VR mostly.

Thanks guys

Re: Adjusting Boot Options in rEFInd

Btw, how come every line of text/code starts with "#". Sometimes there is a space between the 1st character of the next word. I thought this symbol was making the line a comment. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Update: Well, after some investigation I learnt that r...

Re: Adjusting Boot Options in rEFInd

That was great! You are the most rEFInd knowledgeable guy I have come across! To respond to your question, I was under the impression that making myself these manual entries was a requirement. But after learning from what you told me, I'll just use these filters: dont_scan_volumes dont_scan_dirs don...

Re: Adjusting Boot Options in rEFInd

Thank you so much for your valuable info fabien85 :)

I thought I had to put the actual complete file names for these 2 entries below

Code: Select all

loader /vmlinuz-4.15.0-65-generic
initrd /initrd.img-4.15.0-65-generic
And what about these options: quiet elevator=bfq

Original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/unixporn/comments/3e8ncs/adjusting_boot_options_in_refind/ I am trying to follow the instructions from the above post 4 years ago. [SOLVED] Can an unmounted ext drive be accessed?

I normally keep my Backups external drive unplugged, except when doing the backups of course. I just unmounted it, and I was wondering if this is enough?

Let's raise some Linux awareness!

Someone suggested for Character Animator to come to Linux , let's support that! Add your vote! You don't even need to be registered to vote. Even if you're not interested in Character Animator to come to Linux, just being interested in Linux is good enough. Let's all raise some Linux awareness! :D T...
