Re: Manjaro overtakes Mint in Distrowatch page-hit rankings

I encountered this problems on my Asus Core i5 laptop so it's not out of date. It's running kernel 4.14 LTS Manjaro right now which is super stable. Freezing only happened with Chromium and FF, not any other programs.. . That likely means your Asus laptop is too new for LM 18.x's default Linux kern...

Re: Manjaro overtakes Mint in Distrowatch page-hit rankings

I have used Mint 13 and 17 for many years which was great. However since version 18 bugs appeared, Wifi started dropping connection for 1 minute from time to time and FF and Chromium froze my laptop for no reason each 30 minutes or so. Ctrl-Alt-BS was the only way out. Went to Manjaro Cinnamon and ...

Re: Linux Mint 18.3: sudden problem with Wifi

Switched off Wifi power saving permanently which solved the Wifi dropout problem. However, at least every week Chromium crashes and hangs up the whole system, started with version 66. Changed to Manjaro Gnome stable (without wifi power saving) and all problems are solved. Bye bye Mint 18, you are no...

Re: Linux Mint 18.3: sudden problem with Wifi

The problem is that in the past with Windows 8.1 it never dropped out. Linux Mint is way better than Windows in all aspects except the wifi dropout problem. My builtin adapter is running with the rt2800 driver but an external usb wifi adapter from D-Link running the rt8188eu driver has the same prob...

Re: Linux Mint 18.3: sudden problem with Wifi

Hi Antonio and Jeremy, I have similar problems with my wifi at my Asus 704A laptop. Wifi suddenly drops from time to time. Using Mint 18.3 Xfce. After about 1 minute the connection recovers. Question: I have changed content of /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf to [connection]...

No "busy" cursor when starting applications

Hello all,

I'm running Mint 18.3 Maté, installed from scratch. When I start a program I don't get a "busy" cursor at all. My wife's pc runs 17.3 Maté which shows a kind of spinning wheel lookalike.
Does anyone know how to activate this?

Kind regards, Folkert
