Well, the next possibility is that you have a corrupt ISO image. The md5sum should be:
e0f3dbee947630d1eada01a3583d3b96
If that doesn't match, try a fresh download.

Re: Help with boot issues.
Your easy options are to use a Windows Recovery Disk (or your original system disk) to repair your Windows installation, or to reinstall Mint in a minimal "/" partition (15GB will be more than enough) and set Windows as the default boot option during the installation.

Re: Can't run Mint 13 from USB
OK, done. I made a fresh USB stick from the C64 image, following my own instructions carefully, then launched the LiveCD session from that. On my very ordinary ThinkCentre M57e test-bed, I had the grey screen with a blinking underline for about ten seconds, followed by 30 seconds of a completely bla...

Re: Can't run Mint 13 from USB
Hang on for 10 minutes or so - I've really only been using MATE DVDs - I'll just make a 64bit Cinnamon version, and try it on my machine in case there's something odd going on here.

Re: Can't run Mint 13 from USB
Not stupid at all - the shortcut obviously doesn't work in all cases. You can check the actual drive ID for the USB stick using Disk Utility. Typically, it will be something like "sdb" or "sdc" - ignore any partition numbers that may follow that. The output file pathway will then...

Re: Cannot run Windows 7 since Linux Mint 13 installation
You could launch the Mint 13 Live CD again, open a terminal window, and enter the following commands: sudo fisk -l (this is just to sort out your partition letters and numbers - replace the exemplars shown below with the correct ones) sudo mkdir /media/sdax (where "x" is the number of your...

Re: Can't run Mint 13 from USB
Mint 13 comes as hybrid ISOs, which means that you can just apply a direct "bit-by-bit" copy mechanism (using "dd" in the terminal is the normal route) if you have a working Linux system. Like you, I found that the usually very reliable unetbootin didn't work properly in this cas...

Re: Mint 12 KDE release
Everything worked well on my Acer em350 netbook. I did a fresh install just to check things out, although I could simply have updated the RC. My only (minor) gripe so far is the 354MB of zero-day updates. This is no great problem for my home computers, but it will be a real nuisance as I update mach...

Re: Installing Mint on an internal USB drive?
Should be no problem - I expect that you will install Grub on the 128GB SSD, and specify Windows as the default boot option. I do (more or less) the exact reverse ...

Re: Mountpoints on second drive
@ukbrian Thanks for the advice. I know that I would have that option for storing my normal data. I presume, though I haven't tested the mechanism for such purposes (only for sharing documents, pictures and music), that you could also move all the hidden folders and files in /home/me into the /home/m...

Re: Mountpoints on second drive
While my problem is slightly different (I have an internal 80Gb drive that I use for "/" and an external 1TB USB drive for "/home") the end result is the same - frustration. All the other major distros, including Mint Main Edition, deal with this situation effortlessly, and it's ...

Re: Setting Up Partitions In GParted Mint/Debian?
You don't need a separate "/boot" partition, but, as another poster has noted, you do need to allow between 10GB and 15GB for "/", assuming that you are also going to have a large "/home" partition. The installer may well crash if the "/" partition is much les...

Re: (SOLVED) Mint 11 LXDE rc Fail
Yes, I checked the md5sum. The disks were burned using two different machines, and each used a different type of CD. I have successfully used disks burned with the same units and same types of CD to install several other systems. Furthermore, a USB stick prepared with Unetbootin (rather than the fla...

Doesn't matter whether I use Brasero or K3B (I agree that the latter is generally more reliable). I still land up at a command prompt.

Re: Is there a recommended way to make a live USB of mint?
The current version of Unetbootin (either on a linux distro or Windows) should produce a bootable USB stick. There is a bug in the version of USB Disk Creator bundled with Mint 11 which means that the boot software on the stick cannot access the initial menu. The bug report at: https://bugs.launchpa...

Re: Smallest installed mint
If what you have is an eeePC-701, buy a 4GB or 8GB SDHC card, shove that in the slot, and use it for a separate "/home" partition. That way you can run any flavour of Mint you like. I have Mint11 RC main edition running perfectly in just that environment.

Re: [HELP][ASK] Netbook for Mint
This is good advice. Mint will work well, straight out of the box, on the vast majority of netbooks, but running a live USB stick is a very good test for the products on your short list. It's only worth taking along an actual live CD if you also carry a portable optical drive. Just one point to reme...

Re: How long can Mint use Gnome 2.32 now that Gnome 3 is out
I sincerely hope that "mint setting" will be the default, and either Unity or Gnome3 Shell an option. I find that both Unity and Gnome3 Shell work well on netbooks but that Unity, in particular, becomes a nuisance on a full-size screen (admittedly this is mainly due to the global menu pane...

Re: Same /home with new distro. Dangerous?
You may have been on the cautious side, perhaps, in this specific case, but I would have done the same.
It's not so much the user-generated files (.doc, .jpg, .mp3 etc), but rather the hidden application settings, that could otherwise get confused.

Re: Installing Mint 9 using external DVD/CD drive help.
In my experience, two netbooks (an Acer and an eeePC), and one desktop without a built-in CD/DVD drive (Lenovo), boot automatically from the relevant optical disk when an external CD/DVD reader is connected via USB. YMMV, of course, but I think that you're likely to be on safe ground.
