Re: Linux Mint 19.3 running slow
Same here. I takes 5-10x longer to start a browser or VM, and every keystroke takes a long time. Even when system is idle, everything consumes a lot more CPU and is slow to start. I haven't changed anything for months, except that I kept my Mint 19.3 (MATE) up to date so OS package versions changed....

Re: [Security issue] LM19: Desktop won't lock after suspend
As @smurphos said above, Mate is also affected. It happens to me on a fresh install of 19.1 Mate. This is such a critical bug, totally opening my laptop to everyone since I'm working in a large office. Steps: I work on my laptop, then I connect it to an external screen, then I put it to sleep via t...

How is this possible? What does it mean?
It means you didn't read the description.

Did you check what entries precede those "interrupt took too long" messages?

Re: LM MATE 19 Screensaver (1.20.0-1) Unlocks When Monitor is Switched Off
A proposed DEB package for Ubuntu 18.04 can be found here: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-security-proposed/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/15713894 I had 1.20.0-1 and MATE 19.1 screen wouldn't lock upon closing the lid of my laptop and Menu > Lock Screen wouldn't do anything. (Strangely, I think I didn't...

Re: ugh. WIFI network panel icon gone
^^ This. Mint 19 (Mate). nm-applet I have, but nothing happened when I executed it.
This issue drove me crazy with Mint 18, and now again with Mint 19 (I had forgot how I solved it a year ago).

I posted the same feedback here a while months ago (slightly different situation - single screen, but with RDP session, and the cursor remains within the RDP screen). It seems this didn't concern many folks.

Re: WIFi disappeared after kernel upgrade to 4.13.0-26-generic
Ran into this after recent updates (don't know of which exactly, perhaps intel-microcode 3.20180425. Not only wlan0 interface disappeared, but also Enable/Disable WiFi (in NM-Applet). I tried downgrading an older package, didn't help. Then I discovered that I didn't have the latest kernel. That's re...

Re: Screen saver locks the screen too late
I found a way to duplicate this - if I work in RDP session, it seems Mint isn't aware that I'm actually using my PC. Windows doesn't do that, obviously, even if you're in MSTSC to a remote computer.
I'm quite sure there is more than one way this happens, but the above is one of them.

Re: Screen saver locks the screen too late
And why is this a problem? If you want to be sure, lock your screen manually and wait until it's locked. Then leave your computer. Problem isn't only that doesn't lock, but also that it locks when it shouldn't. If it hasn't yet locked and I'm back at my desktop and start using it, then it shouldn't...

Re: Why Xenial "Restricted" isn't in Mint 18.3 repos?
It is here. You must have disabled it or you're misreading the information. Share the output of this command run from the terminal: inxi -Sr I know they aren't there. But I thought I didn't remove any of that. But that's helpful - now I think I know where I made it happen - a while ago I used the R...

Re: Crowding of windows on vertical panel (because "nobody does that"?)
Like with my other problem (URL below) I managed to make progress by dragging my vertical panel to a horizontal position, troubleshooting there, and then pulling it back. The problem was the damn divider at the "right" corder (in my vertical panel, "bottom") of the panel - it ser...

Re: Screen saver locks the screen too late
Yes. Like, you can actually use MATE for a few seconds, then you get locked out.orschiro wrote:You mean it doesn't lock it after 3 minutes but 3 minutes and 10 seconds (or whatever value that is)?

[SOLVED] Why Xenial "Restricted" isn't in Mint 18.3 repos?
I noticed "restricted" isn't in Mint 18.3's list of Xenial repos.
Is that an omission or on purpose?
Is it okay to add it in?

Screen saver locks the screen too late
This is a mild security risk, actually, so I just want to share this: on my 18.3 I have Screensaver set to blank screen, with 3 min of idleness before it activates. But it often lets me use it for a few seconds and only then does it lock the screen. That's quite funny, but probably not as funny for ...

Re: Crowding of windows on vertical panel (because "nobody does that"?)
Is Window List the panel app that is causing the compaction problem? If so, you can remove it and add in its place Window Selector. When you click on the Window Selector icon a pop up window appears that lists the open windows. Then click on the one you want to activate. Window Selector isn't as ni...

Re: Mate panel items spontaneously rearrange
I saw this too when I had them in the center - that was with my current setup, Mint 18.3 but also Ubuntu MATE Desktop 16.04. Couldn't figure it out. Ultimately I gave up on trying to do that. Now I moved all my items to the other end of the panel (concretely, in top panel, to the very left and to th...

Re: Crowding of windows on vertical panel (because "nobody does that"?)
I use MATE (that's why I posted here) on 18.3. I should add that this problem seems to manifest more easily by using two monitors of unequal resolution: a) With only external (high res) display active, open 8 windows with only higher resolution monitor active b) Suspend notebook c) Resume without ex...
