Re: Internet Speed Good but Web Pages load SLOWLY.
Thanks for the tips. Telling me to try another browser was the key to finding the problem. I downloaded Google's Chromium browser. It worked incredibly fast. I also tried another laptop up here in wi-fi hell and it work fast as well. Just leaving this in case anyone happens to click on it looking fo...

Re: Internet Speed Good but Web Pages load SLOWLY.
Nope. It says power management is off. Also, I already tried speedtest.net, it was in my question. Did notice something though, namely this: bertram@bertram:~$ iwconfig wlx14cc2021b293 IEEE 802.11AC ESSID:"virus.exe" Nickname:"<WIFI@REALTEK>" Mode:Managed Frequency:5.745 GHz Acce...

Internet Speed Good but Web Pages load SLOWLY.
Title says it all. This happened when I upgraded to Tessa. Tested my internet speed with the super annoying Archer T4U wifi adapter, as I always have trouble with it after any kernel changes/updates. I ran the "Driver Manager" thing and instead of the usual manually installed wireless adap...

Re: Dual boot Windows and Mint 19 Tara issues
You're right. I installed it again and this version of Mint is the best I've seen yet. I hope it's a Windows killer. I must have messed something up when installing. I tried to delete this post altogether, but can't figure out how. Hope people that read this post also read this correction. I would p...

Dual boot Windows and Mint 19 Tara issues
Hi. My experience so far with Mint 19 with a dual boot system... I was excited to see Tara and downloaded it and burned it to a disk. Just so everything would be nice and fresh I reinstalled Windows 10, then used Mini-Partition to cut my hard drive in half and formatted the Linux half ext4. Then I s...

New kernel makes system act WEIRD...
Yesterday I clicked on the upgrade manager, as there was no 'check mark' and installed everything it suggested. My setting on update manager is 'Don't break my computer!'. Since then there have been all sorts of weird things happening. Is it because of the kernel update? I can understand clicking on...

Re: Used space on empty hard drive.
UPDATE: Thanks. I DID use FAT32. And you're right- all the permissions were right there to let me set them to me controlling everything (read, write, etc). I picked EXT4 because of my unbearable frustration at Microsoft Windows and vowing to just use Linux. EXT4 seemed more 'Linux-ey'. Thanks to all...

Re: Error Creaing Partition
I had this exact same problem. I tried to format an external hard drive using EXT4, as I was so incredibly angry at Windows (I had a dual-boot system). I finally told myself that I'd had it with Windows and if there was something I really needed to run in Windows I'd just use my laptop. So I re-inst...

Re: wifi cannot connect
Did you install the driver for it? Just because the system shows that you have wireless connections in your area doesn't mean that the driver for that wireless adapter is working.

Used space on empty hard drive.
I have a 1TB external hard drive. I formatted it to EXT4. When I click on the drive and look at the 'properties' section it shows a pie chart saying there's 50 Gigs of used space on it. Why isn't 100% blank? I can see some use for the file system or whatever, but what is taking up that space? Is it ...
