Re: Upgrading from LM 19.3 issue.

First a big Thanks, to FootballJoe, and to pUIi, for their input, although I have not yet used it. I really want to learn why this happens, rather than go for a quick fix and learn ZIP!! I spent the day today in research of this long boot time issue as far as it concerned me. It took me while to eve...

Upgrading from LM 19.3 issue.

Hey guys I'm finally getting around to upgrading to LM 20, to rid an issue with lengthy boot times - five minutes on average I now have some time, with which to attend to these... multiple issues. I want to do a fresh install, and format the drive . Starting with a clean slate! So I purchased a DVD ...

Re: Things to report...

I'm at a loss as to what was going wrong, and why the killall stuff didn't work. That has helped MATE users with MPRIS issues where the multimedia keys stopped working. I did play the sax (Tenor) but haven't for far too long now! I keep telling myself I'll pick it back up again, but issues keep com...

I play the Trumpet, so Mint User Forum Jazz.....nice! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsQYzpOHpik Hmmm... To me, that sounds more like the version of fusion called "con" . ...(confusion!) I'm strictly a rocker... ie: Boston, Journey, Allman Brothers, etc. But I do enjoy playing the 60's M...

Re: Things to report...

c=MrEen post_id=1882414 time=1599532305 user_id=213210] That's more or less what I expected. I have never seen mate-settings-daemon and mate-volume-control-applet in that section before. I highly suspect whatever is causing that is a part of this issue. The only thing I can suggest at the moment is ...

Re: Things to report...

Okay, I think I've narrowed it down, but not sure what to do about it yet. Let's see this one now: Let's see this one now: sudo fuser -v /dev/snd/* You'll notice some MATE settings there that might be causing this. Sorry!!!! I thought I had sent this... Re: Things to report...

Don't worry about that line, it's normal. Go ahead and delete everything there, then run pulseaudio -k . If pulseaudio doesn't restart on it's own, run pulseaudio --start If that doesn't fix your original issue, run this one and paste the output: curl https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulse...

Re: Things to report...

In all likelyhood, there's a conflict between one of the . (dot) files and your installation. The way I reuse /home is I copy everything but the .(dot) files, then only copy those that don't exist on the new install. Thanks Larry, Yeah, I figured.... but wasn't positive... I copied the home Dir, to...

Re: Things to report...

Did you reuse your /home or did you start from scratch?

Re: Things to report...

You've confused me! Which was it?
A - clean install of Linux Mint 20 on a re-partitioned drive.
I have CHF, and will attempt a new install on a brand new drive, when I feel a little better.
thanks.

Things to report...Solved w/new install and HDD.

Two issues here..... . Issue #1 I upgraded to Linux 20 about 2 months ago with a fresh install. However, I recently noticed when my cursor hovers over the "MENU" on the task bar, it reads that I am using "Linux Mint 19 Tricia". I thought it to be a leftover glitch, because, after...

Re: Can't do update due to Nscd Error

I did some research, and found this:

https://support2.windriver.com/index.ph ... LIN10-2071

It seems to be an identical issue.

Is it wise to use their fix (...Er, Workaround) ?
