Re: ZFS geli mount from FreeNAS

Hello ralplpcr,

thanks for reply!

I think I wrote some unclear stuff :|

On FreeNAS I have an encrypted ZFS pool backup disk. I want to connect it via USB on my Mint machine to read it. It's a worst case scenario: my FreeNAS is destroyed and I need to read the backup data on my Mint machine.

Re: SMB with Linux Mint 19: recycle bin chaos

Hello altair4, thanks for your answer. That's what I expect and what I had before I updated to Linux Mint 19 (as I remember it). The .recycle folder on SMB shares should be the one and only trash bin. But Mint creates the .Trash-1026 folder on SMB shares. This shouldn't be OK. That's because I am al...

SMB with Linux Mint 19: recycle bin chaos

Hello, I'm little confused about the recycle bin handling of SMB shares. I use FreeNAS for SMB service. On FreeNAS SMB shares are configured with recycle bin usage. The client is a Linux Mint 19 PC and has mounted the SMB shares. There's a .recycle folder in a SMB share. This is the recycle bin of F...

Repository question regarding universe

Hello, I did a fresh installation of LM 19 and am currently installing my software packages. I want to install pyRenamer located in universe (https://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/pyRenamer/). As I understand universe is already activated in LM but I can't find pyRenamer in Software Center. Am I doing somethi...

Re: Backup 19 - questions for whole system backup

That's right, gm10, BUT: a standard tool in Linux environments like thunderbird saves mail data (and configs) in hidden folders! That's my sticking point.

Re: Backup 19 - questions for whole system backup

This is also my intention. no, this is not overkill. I am doing that same way. A tool like True Image would be great. It covers all three points!

Backup 19 - questions for whole system backup

Hello, I want to use with Tara Timeshift and the standard mint backup tools for whole system backup. To backup everything (home and system) I have to use these two tools, right? I'm wondering if mint backup is practicable: the tool has no profiles and no scheduler?! Do I really have to set the backu...

Proxy Settings - is there a fast and easy way to change?

Hello, I am really wondering about the web proxy configuration in Mint. Is this still up to date? https://www.linuxmintusers.de/index.php?action=wiki;page=Systemweiten_Proxy_einstellen Switching between networks with or without proxy is really annoying me. Question is: is this still state of the art...

Re: Meltdown an Spectre kernel upgrade problems

Hello, I have the same problem. After the update my network shares do not mount. On my Synology NAS I noticed that there's a setting for SMB version. It was set to "max v 2". I set it to "max v 3" and the shares mount again. BUT after that I have only read access. Other than that mentioned linux upd...
