Login Window Different Resolutions

I have my computer hooked up to a 60" 4K TV and sometimes when I turn the computer on the login window is 4k and sometimes it is 1080. Can't figure out where to adjust it in the settings. Once I login it's always 1080 resolution so not a huge deal. High DPI setting disable? High DPI enabled made it ...

No Hardware Classified Section?

Selling my laptop and I thought this site would have a classified section since Linux is somewhat of a niche. Is there an appropriate section for classified/eBay links?

Re: Just when you think Google can't get worse

Even worse, Google was found to manipulate search results here in the USA especially political searches during the election.

Re: New iPhone Next Month, Android vs iOS

And have you managed to get it to talk to mint? The only way I was able to get stuff off my iphone was via win7 in a VM. Had to install itunes to get the drivers into win7. Now dumped in favour of android which has no problem talking to mint. For putting music on an iPhone, I use a family member's ...

i don't understand people using linux and having an iphone.
If there was a Linux Mint phone, I'd be all over it. Until then, I'm going to use what I see as the best hardware/software, iPhone.

Re: New iPhone Next Month, Android vs iOS

no doubts the hardware of iphone is durable, but for an American company to outsource their fabrication to cheaper labor countries only tells me that it's all about the $$$'s and will not have a part of it. If it was made in America, it would be 50% more expensive and people would whine even more! ...

Re: New iPhone Next Month, Android vs iOS

this is ridiculous. $1000 for a phone? Agree that it's absurd and they pack in a lot of unnecessary hardware features to drive the price up like Face/Touch ID. Flagship Android phones are not any cheaper though. OTOH, smartphones are very capable and can replace your camera, computer for some, navi...

New iPhone Next Month, Android vs iOS

I think I might go back to an iPhone next month. My Google Pixel 2 has been better and worse in some ways than my iPhone 7. Pixel is better: Google Maps/Android Auto>Apple Maps/Carplay, Google Assistant>Siri, Drive>iCloud, Camera/Photo App iPhone is better: App Store, less buggy (Shamed to say but t...

Re: Be more active in life..not just computer science

I find reading on the computer and watching travel videos much more fulfilling and less of a waste of resources than actually travelling. I find travelling to be the most overrated hobby that young people are obsessed with just to add typical snapshots to their instagram. Although I am active where ...

Re: what do I really need on start up

I don't know that I need any of the startup programs, Do you mean the Startup Applications? The only one I find unnecessary is the Welcome Screen which is easy to turn off. I suppose you could turn some of the others off but they run in the background. I wouldn't want to mess anything up and I don'...

Thanks for the responses. I'll see if I can get it to work. It wasn't an option to change it when I tried.
If not there's always a 3.5mm extension cord :x

Re: Bluetooth Headphones: Bad Sound Quality, No Sound in Chrome

Go into sound settings and change from HSP/HFP to A2DP Thanks, I tried that. I don't see it as an option when I click it. Also tried turning off flash in Chrome and that didn't work to get any sound in Chrome. That was recommended when searching. https://www.addictivetips.com/web/fix-bluetooth-audi...

Bluetooth Headphones: Bad Sound Quality, No Sound in Chrome

1. My bluetooth headphones have really poor sound quality (sounds like 32 kbps) in Rhythmbox
and
2. Don't output any sound in Chrome.

Voice Control in Linux vs. Smart Home Speaker

Has anyone used voice control in Mint? The only place I've seen a microphone icon is the google homepage. I know there is an assistant like Google/Siri/Alexa but I've heard mixed reviews. I'd like to say "Hey Linux, Play Jazz Music in Rhythmbox" "Hey Linux, Open Up Netflix/Spotify/Youtube" I know my...

Re: Who no longer trusts or uses Facebook?

Facebook started out as an easy way to get laid in college. Now it's a social comparison ego shrine that pits people against eachother. Same with Instagram. I have a few family members that are total InstaSloots. I am sure it has increased travel to Greek Islands, Hawaii, Thailand, and Macchu Picchu...
