Re: 19.2 won't install

Solved. Gave up on DVD and retried USB. Worked for some reason this time. Backed up nearly everything before changeover. Unfortunately, forgot browser bookmarks. 19.2 looks pretty good so far. Fixed several issues I was having in 18.3.

Re: 19.2 won't install

I used xfburn to burn an iso image to it. I tried using a USB stick, but it wouldn't work for some reason.

19.2 won't install [Solved]

I have a laptop with Cinnamon 18.3 installed. I am trying to change over to 19.2. I have created a DVD with the iso on it and ensured the dvd is the first in line for booting. Every time I try to install by rebooting into the dvd my machine starts up in 18.3. I have verified that the dvd is actually...

Re: Random Logouts

Mine is an Intel chip. If I leave my laptop open and stagnant, after a while the wifi disconnects. If I close the laptop, when I open it it appears to be in sleep mode, but will never restart unless I do a hard reboot. All of my settings are set to keep everything going, regardless of power supply.

Hibernating

My Mint 18.3 machine (Toshiba laptop) has started hibernating on its own when left dormant for any period of time. This very frustrating, as I must totally power down and restart in order to get it back. I have checked the power profile and I have Never selected for all power saving items. Also chec...

Re: 19.1 cinnamon upgrade

If I do a fresh install to 19 from 18.3 will I lose all of my data, or will it be retained like it is with a Windows update?

19.1 cinnamon upgrade

I am running on 18.3.
Why doesn't the 19.1 upgrade show up in my update manager? Yes, I did look under Edit, as well as all the other drop-downs.

Where did my power indicator go?

Where did my power indicator go that used to be by my time and date in the lower right corner of the screen?
After I upgraded to 19 it disappeared shortly after the sound icon claimed to be the power icon. I've looked around my admin stuff but can't find how to get it back.

clamd

Recently my machine has been getting very very slow at times to the point of needing a reboot. When I checked on memory usage, the biggest (huge) user is clamd. When I kill it my machine is back to its great self. The whereis results are: whereis clamd clamd: /usr/sbin/clamd /usr/share/man/man8/clam...

Re: All messed up

I finally got it to work. After seeing the results from lpinfo -v, I uninstalled cups and reinstalled it. Now the printer shows up and works just fine.

Re: Epson issue with network

So does anyone know why a perfectly functioning printer that is being seen on the network by other machines is non-existent according to my "Linux Mint 18.3-only" machine?

Re: All messed up

Funny, most users think Windows 10 is the best reason to use Linux that's come along in years. There isn't enough info there for support, not even the make/model of the printer in question, and you can't expect others to search all your posts for info. For a decent system report copy/paste this to ...

All messed up

So I upgraded my kernal to 14.13.0-38, due to the sudden loss of 18.3's ability to see my printer on the network, after all else failed. (See my posts on various other sub-forums) So now, after installing that and doing various other printer driver upgrades and cups tweeks, I no longer have ANY func...

Re: Epson issue with network

Sorry. Not going to that site. Besides, it seems to be more of an issue with not even showing up as a network device, let alone being usable.
Also, that is older than what I have installed.
