Re: Libreoffice normal vs flatpak

I choose LibreOffice because it’s already installed on my Linux Mint computer and it’s a free imitator of Micrsoft Office.

Re: 32 Bit System

Your last statement isn't making sense. Most of the chipsets in 64-bit computers can handle 4 to 16 GB RAM. I said at least. Sometimes my words are mixed up. You meant "at least", but wrote "no more than". That's why I was confused. I was probably thinking of the limitations of 32-bit modern...

Re: 32 Bit System

You could run a 64-bit version of an OS with less than 4GB of RAM (mostly for Linux distributions) and it could still run properly. Although you should run it with no more than 2GB of RAM, depending on your computer. Your last statement isn't making sense. Most of the chipsets in 64-bit computers c...

Re: 32 Bit System

Hope to be in the right place.... I would just like to thank Linux Mint for still supporting the 32 Bit architecture. Old computers can still be used and not thrown away because of Windows not being supported on them. 64bit systems require at least 4GB of RAM to run properly. You could run a 64-bit...

I don't use either Imgur or Postimage that much, but Imgur's features are more familiar to me whenever I use Tumblr (a social networking website).

Re: Is there any advantage to installing Linux on an Apple machine?

*tag* I messed up the formatting on my previous post so when you quoted me it messed yours up, too. I've fixed it now. I mean, you don't have to fix it, but I used to be a moderator over at (the now-defunct) iidb.org and I always liked a clean-looking thread  My bedroom's a mess but I like al...

Re: Installing Mint18.3 from dvd

I bought the Mint 18.3 mate DVD but do not know how to use it to install. My computer is HP6320, 32bit, running Windows 10. I have made a large (100GB) partition for Linux so I can keep Win10. Is there a tutorial for this situation? I found a helpful article that guides you on how to install Linux ...

Re: Is there any advantage to installing Linux on an Apple machine?

If you gave us a picture, maybe I could text it to my uncle so he could think of switching to Linux (probably). Pictures will be posted as soon as I get home in about 2 and a half weeks (I'm on one side of the world; the MacBook and skin is on the other side of the world). Oh. Well, I guess I could...

Re: Who no longer uses Windows?

I still use Windows for games and blu rays. And, unfortunately, still at work. Time for a rant: At 5pm today, just as I was about to head out the door, my boss asks me to do a trivial task - put a shortcut on the desktop for the secretary. She had already left for the night so I boot up her PC, and...

My grandma used to have a dog named BJ. I'm not sure if she's alive though, since she was pretty old when I first saw her (I was about 4).

Re: 32 Bit System

There are operating systems like Windows 7, 8, and 10 that still support the 64-bit architecture. But considering that you would probably need more RAM (random access memory) in the near future for accessing vital applications, it's not recommended for older computers to use more modern software tha...

I don't even have a Windows icon as my avatar and I could tell that Windows fans can be into Linux, including myself.

Re: Do you use Windows?

I would walk away from Windows completely years ago except that my wife is a Real Estate agent and must use it for work. Windows 7 SP1 (original patch, no updates, auto-update turned OFF) on her home office PC, her laptop and work pc. Windows 10 will never touch my computers. Linux Mint on every ot...

Welcome to the Linux Mint forums. I've used Linux for a few months now, but I'm more comfortable with Mint due to better performance and speed towards my old laptop.

Re: Installing Linux 18.3 onto Windows XP computer

One of the lightest distributions around is an Ubuntu derivative which continually gets great reviews for resurrecting older hardware: Lubuntu--has a download size of around 900 MB, and LXLE desktop. You've got a good machine with a lot of life left in it, with the right OS (speaking of which--look...

Re: Do you use Windows?

I currently use Windows often for 15 years now. I even have it running on 2 of my 3 computers. One of which is my main PC, which is an Acer Veriton X2631 from 2014. The other is an Acer Predator Helios 300, which is a beast due to its massive memory and hard disk storage. It even has virtual reality...
