Re: Getting rid of overlay scrollbars

Glad to see it working for you :D ... My humble answer to your 3 scenarios: it all has to do with a particular switch-setting's "scope" -- simply speaking, who "sets" the variable, and who "sees" it. If we exclude hacks & exploits for a moment, a "parent" process sets it, and a "child" process sees,...

Re: Getting rid of overlay scrollbars

Have you tried logging out/in or rebooting Yes, of course, rebooted, but it was of no avail. Greetings! Your problem is an old/standing issue. Its been discussed at length on the Xfce.org-forum, @ https://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?pid=49672#p49672 ... My reply @ #9 describes what i did to kill t...

Re: Linux Mint 19 Crash, then Hardware Errors/Boot Error (Busy Box), then Microcode Error

...update properly your BIOS at some point, and, more importantly, don't hard reboot by toggling the power button ... What are you supposed to do with a total lockup--no mouse, no keyboard--no way to input anything? Greetings! Though somewhat off this topic, but relevant to your question: remove th...

Re: Mintstick exfat

Sorry, my fault  I developed the exFAT support. Due to a mixup on my end one line of my code hasn't made it into the release; rather crucial, it's the line that adds exFAT to that selection box. The rest of the code to support exFAT is in place, you just can't select it... Doh! I've submitted...

Re: Mintstick exfat

After looking at the source code ( @ https://github.com/linuxmint/mintstick/blob/master/lib/mintstick.py ) it would appear that "exFat" was somehow omitted from the file-system choices. Is that what passes for acceptable code nowadays? Yeow. Not being a python-aty myself, i'd rather give the devs t...

Re: Mintstick exfat

I've checked, these 2 packages are already installed. Greetings! I can confirm your observation/problem: even though the "exFat" formatting option shows up in the tooltip-popup, the actual file-format pick list does not allow for it. After looking at the source code ( @ https://github.com/linuxmint...

Re: Screen Won't Lock

Not near my 19 Xfce VM to look at details currently but probably light-locker itself was being kept from running, possibly as a result of you experimenting with different screensavers. If the situation doesn't repeat I wouldn't worry about it; it it does randomly, you are probably looking at a syst...

Re: No Wifi after upgrading to 18.3

Greetings!

Is this an HP P7-type laptop, about 2011 vintage? If so, i've worked with that type of laptop a bit and have a few ideas. Please let me know.

Cheers, M4A

Re: Ethernet going strange most every time I update

Yeah. True that.I know. Cheers mate. But.. My ask why such a central service as Ethernet is a problem? This is one of the basics to get Linux Mint running. If we don't connect how will we get it playing? Remember, there is a lot of guys, (me included),that is not that sure of the linux... Is there ...

Re: Vertical scroll bar arrows

Thanks for the reply. Quite possibly I am old school, but I do like the arrows. Any suggested fixes for the GTK3? I can only track down suggestions for GTK2 and don't want to mess things up by hacking a config file with the wrong instructions. Old school? Well, don't feel stranded -- i feel the sam...

Re: firefox wrong theme

A few days ago, after Ubuntu announced the new 18.04.1 releases, I looked over xubuntu's release notes for 18.04.1. Needless to say, there's a TON of fixes & changes coming our way. Put a different way: Mint's LM19.0-xfce spin is woefully behind the curve, esp. in regards to xfce's moving from Gtk2-...

Re: Screen Won't Lock

Setting a new Mint 19 VM. Everything is going great...except for some odd reason I can't get the screen to lock anymore, either by the plugin or command line. I'm sure during my infinite tweaking that I accidentally disabled something - any ideas on what? Greetings! Afaict, the permissions to execu...

Re: firefox wrong theme

Mint 19 xfce: Firefox 61.0.1 ignores Window Manager's theme selection. Uses some black, no title, no border, theme that I have never seen. Everything else uses the proper theme. Greetings! I'd like to help you, but need some more info. Is this a new install, or an upgrade? If an upgrade, from what ...

Re: Vertical scroll bar arrows

Greetings! Your issue may have to do with the fact that Mate has converted to GTK+ 3 (your desktop's "theme" scripting language), and that the "theme" you've selected simply doesn't provide for those scroll-bar arrows (a frequent complaint on many support forums). As a quick workaround, why not just...

Greetings! Ime, LO does some funny things with font rendering etc. I am currently using LO 5.1.6.2 on LM18.3-xfce, and have adjusted LO's user-interface-"View" properties as this screenshot shows ...
