Virtual Reality & Linux

Greetings all, When I got the computer I currently use, I specified that the motherboard be compatible with running a VR headset. I didn't get the video card that would have been needed for VR. I'm wondering if someone would direct me to a site that discusses using a VR headset with Linux Mint [I'm ...

Re: (Solved) Unable to configure open.vpn, getting Option errors.

Greetings Denizens of the LM Forums, I am a dummy and I just proved it once again. I also was in communication with support at Private Tunnel, it seems that I should have included the quotation marks in the the command string. Once I went back and added the quotation marks to the config command stri...

(Solved) Unable to configure open.vpn, getting Option errors.

Greetings and Salutations all. I’m unable to configure open.vpn, I'm getting Option errors. I’m using Private Tunnel and I’ve downloaded a profile. Private Tunnel’s instructions after you’ve obtained a profile are as follows: Afterwards, use the following command: sudo openvpn --config "path to...

Re: How to configure TLS over DNS in LM 19.2 with Xfce, when there's a dynamic DNS

Kadeyecha Man, Thank you very much for your reply. After making the changes indicated, I couldn’t get DNS over TLS to work. I can’t decide if I’m not being patient enough or merely didn’t make the correct changes to the resolved.conf file When I issued the command: sudo xed etcsystemd/resolved.conf....

Re: The Mint Café, Special Characters

Hello all, I’m not at all certain that this question belongs here or not, but as it arises from The Mint Café in the Open Chat forum I’ll start here. In this thread; https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=829 npap uses some special characters, I’m wondering if npap used a word proces...

Re: I had difficulties posting messages the other day. (Oct-2019) Thank you Moem, Pierre, Wharf Rat and Portereve, for your replies, and I apologize for the very late acknowledgement thereof. FWIW; I haven't noticed a generally slow internet here in the recent past, however there have been various ...

Portreve,

I just now saw your reply, I'll try your suggestions.

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond.

Respectfully yours, E1-Beard-0

(I should have quoted Portreve's message so that folks aren't so confused. Big Sigh!)

lsemmens, I just now saw this 05-Mar-20. Regrettably, my eye sight is too poor to be able to make anything out.

Not with standing, thank you very much for your reply.

How to configure TLS over DNS in LM 19.2 with Xfce, when there's a dynamic DNS

How to configure TLS over DNS in LM 19.2 with Xfce, when there's a dynamic DNS I’ve spent a little bit of time trying various guides to configuring TLS over DNS, none of them seem to quite suit LM 19.2 with Xfce and a dynamic DNS. In addition, of the few I’ve looked at, I do not believe any of those...

Do forum passwords expire?

Hello all, Well this seems a bit silly, none the less I'm wondering if there is a board policy where an account that hasn't been used in a period of time has it's password expire. My password got rejected today, 05 Mar 2020, the last time I visited the Linux Mint forums was 01 Jan 2020, so just over...

Don't use spaces in directory names.

All, This isn't a question, but it might be something that not everyone knows, I certainly didn't. I want to thank phd21 for a tip he gave me; I've been using spaces in the names of directories, I could never figure out why most of the suggested commands containing paths didn't work. phd21 once rema...

Options error: You must define TUN/TAP device, what? how?

All, In another post I complain about a very slow internet that seems to have started since I signed-on with a VPN provider. I still had a subscription to a previous VPN provider and determined that I would go back to that VPN provider. However, I'm getting the error message below and have no idea w...

(Answered) I had difficulties posting messages the other day.

Mods, Admins, Monday, the 28th of October and Tuesday the 29th of October, I was trying to inquire about several different matters. I lost track of how many different messages I was unable to post. In each and every instance, upon clicking submit, the board would time out. I will note that I recentl...

Re: Are topics purged, if so how long do they stay up?

For things that I find useful, I simply copy the text and make a locally stored text file of it (of course, backing it up just like every other file I have). That way I never have to worry about it disappearing. I really don't think any copyright laws come into play, do they? I mean, if I write som...

I believe that makes most of your other questions irrelevant. :)
Moem, I apologize, I neglected to thank you for your reply. I did think that purging old posts might be a necessity due to lack of storage space.

Murray, Thank you for that tip, I hadn't considered that option, I'll look into Google Keep when the press of other matters that seem more important thins out, likely story eh? I will add that, in general, I try not to keep personal information about myself online, in the cloud, whatever, no doubt t...
