I ended up following https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkeVg-B_ZDg after doing a fresh install of LM19 and I got it to work for me.

I am curious though...what is the difference between the flatpack installation and the i386 that are on the repositories?

Not pre-installed with mint but...https://system76.com/ sells laptops and desktops made just for Linux (pre-installed with POP_OS or Ubuntu 18.04). You can also select the hardware that you want in the computer (most of the ones I have looked at use 8th gen intel cpu and nvidia 1060-1080 gpu's.

Ok...so I ended up trying to download the pdf using google chrome and didnt have any problems opening up the pdf. So it makes me wonder if maybe the file ended up becoming corrupted when I tried to download it using firefox due to the uGet integration that I have on it

I know that it is supposed to be a pdf...when I was still using windows I was able to download the pdf and view/print the pdf if I so chose...so I dont know if there might be something wrong with the encoding of the file that makes it not work for Linux or something

I had to update my BIOS recently to be able to run VB...all I did was

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
to find out my mobo information and then went onto youtube to figure out how to update the bios. After I did the bios update I was then able to activate the intel virtualization in the bios and run VB

I apologize, It did end up booting. Is there a terminal command to download those programs or can I find them in Synaptic? sudo apt-get install smartmontools gsmartcontrol gsmartcontrol is a gui front-ent to smartmontools. As of right now gsmartcontrol says that the driver is in good condition
