Re: a small question Linux Mint and Nvidia GF119M
To make a long story short. I have had it with linux bad driver support on old hardware as they are quite fast on dropping drivers and then you have to spend to much time trying to "solve" the problem. I don't think you will find many people agreeing with your "linux bad driver suppo...

I only referenced one aspect of it but it certainly hits the overall gist of my confusion. Thanks for your time Newbie221 I did read all your posts, but not all answers yo...

Re: a small question Linux Mint and Nvidia GF119M
What was the last version of Linux Mint and LMDE that had core/kernel/out of the box support for Nvidia GF119M Graphics? What does "core/kernel/output of the box support" mean? The nouveau driver is available in the kernel so if that is what you are referencing then all current versions s...

Re: Why does Linux Desktop Samba networking still suck after 20 years .. bug or feature??
So the question is Has anyone a bug fix out for this problem with network discovery and network browsing to Linux Desktop? That reads as if you are having problems in Windows. Why does Linux Desktop Samba networking still suck after 20 years, bug or feature??
Samba networking in a mixed Linux Windows environment with shared folders and network drives. This is as unstable and walking in a minefield with boiling nitroglycerin in your hands.. working... working... working.... KABOOM.. it stops working even you didn't do a thing wrong. and the funny part is....

Yeah my 13 year old granddaughter turned be on to "girlboss" and "slay." So when I go to her softball games and she comes up to bat I yell "you go girlboss !" My wife asked if I embarrassed her . . . she said it did not that people yell all kinds of stuff to the batter...

Re: which xfce based distro do you prefer?
You installed Cinnamon not Xfce. 95% of the job is done by adding Faye repo. Then you have to replace default underwhelming greeter with Slick Greeter (low to mild difficulty), some grub defaults and you're almost done. Yet Mint metapackage of xfce was not in Faye repo last time I checked. It is do...

Re: Lost access after resizing linux mint partition
Did your resize it and make it smaller? That can cause a login loop. For future reference, If you are stuck in a login loop (you put in the correct password and it keeps coming back to the login screen), then try the advice in this post . To make it bigger, from 3GB to 25GB of space. I wish I had s...

Re: Idiots guide to dual boot installation with Win10 on 2 SSD's please
Fighting an update, fixing a couple of bugs was reasonably straightforward, rebuilding the isos, not. The devs for sfdisk decided to introduce a new feature in the latest version that cause previous versions to crash when trying to restore a partition table. Two days of going round in circles tryin...

Re: Idiots guide to dual boot installation with Win10 on 2 SSD's please
There are some advantages with legacy boot - mainly the ubiquity installer will behave and put grub in the drive you tell it to, unlike UEFI. So there is no need to disconnect your win drive when installing in legacy to a separate drive. With a "something else" install the installer will ...

Re: which xfce based distro do you prefer?
Xfce is not niche for Jove's sake. It is at least the 3rd most popular DE. Most distros nowadays offer a variety of desktops but they offer an Xfce variant more often than Cinnamon, Mate, LXQt etc. I estimate that KDE has more users but fewer distros. Lite ships only with Xfce. Endeavour's unoffici...

Re: which xfce based distro do you prefer?
Distributions don't really matter when you figure out how Linux tics... it all boils down to the installed packages, as that is what making the distribution a distribution... More of the difference is more in the base distros Debian, Redhat, Arch etc, as they have different package managers and some...

the risk is reasonably low, and there are things that can be done to lower it further. The 'risk' is extremely lower than that. I challenge you to find just 1 (one) example of one verified infection. If you can I will eat my words, but there are many websites that suggest Linux "may' get a vir...
