Re: [SOLVED] Mint 19.1 + Ubuntu Eoan = something broke. Experts needed.

<snip> I don't think an image-manipulating application should take 70+MB, let alone 700+MB. Many, many things nowadays could be made to work much faster while being much smaller in size. Check out some of the threads here on Flatpak and you'll understand why its apps - well, the first app, anyways ...

Re: Can I remove .cache in home directory?

I removed the folder again and did . Hopefully this will prevent recreation of the folder. I think that is a bad idea. Better to move cache to the tmpfs https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Tmpfs This approach should purge .cache during every reboot, while I am trying to prevent creation of .cache....

Re: Can I remove .cache in home directory?

I'd be willing to bet that your .cache folder is mostly full from web browsers. Just clean the cache from there and you'll be fine.

No. Those filesystems do not support hardlinks, which is required by Timeshift.

Re: How to print from a flatpak app?

You may need to file an issue here: https://github.com/flathub/org.libreoffice.LibreOffice/issues. The more I've thought about this, the more I don't understand why you can't print. There was a similar issue with the Snap version of LO, but there was a simple permissions fix to allow it to see CUPS ...

Hmmm...can you show me the details of your system printer? Is it local or network?

Re: How to print from a flatpak app?

I've gone through the docs and I can't find how to set permissions to allow for printers to save my life. I asked this on the Flatpak mailing list (for some reason my thread disappeared) and didn't get very far; it seems to be dependent on how the app was originally built. I guess I could download t...

Re: How to print from a flatpak app?

This could be one of many problems. I use LibreOffice on Mint 19.1 and it sees my printer just fine; however, I've tried Okular and it doesn't. Unfortunately, some Flatpak apps don't set the right permissions outside of the sandbox. You could try the Flatpak PPA to get the latest version; it's run b...

Re: Determining DNS Server being used

Mine shows the same thing: nslookup linuxmint.com Server: 127.0.0.53 Address: 127.0.0.53#53 Non-authoritative answer: Name: linuxmint.com Address: 192.124.249.9 I, too, changed my DNS on my router. To check my changes, I ran this: nmcli device show | grep DNS IP4.DNS[1]: 1.1.1.1 IP4.DNS[2]: 1.0.0.1 ...

Re: Need to make room in my root folder

That's one HUGE kern.log! Are you running logrotate? Something's not right - you should check that log to see what's filling it up.

Re: Virtual Box support Cannot access host partitions

Did you create VMs under the root account? This partition has 9GB of space used - what's it for? I think you're going to need to do what MrEen suggested and change all of the permissions on the /media/mugo partitions.

Re: Virtual Box support Cannot access host partitions

At a minimum, run this:

Code: Select all

sudo chown mugo:mugo /media/mugo/*
Also, what does ls -l /media/mugo/236ed19c-0520-4d72-86c1-477da2876a03 show?

Re: Virtual Box support Cannot access host partitions

Looks like another permissions issue. A couple of questions: 1) Do any of the folders below the partition mount point already exist? If so, what are their permissions/ownership? 2) Check the permissions/ownership of the actual mount point (I believe you said it was root:root; if so, change it as I s...

Re: Virtual Box support Cannot access host partitions

Go ahead and remove the test folders; they're not on a separate partition. What happens when you try to create a new VM now? Is the dialog box still the same?

Re: Virtual Box support Cannot access host partitions

OK, I'm really confused now. I thought you wanted to store new VMs on the /media/mugo partition. What other partitions are you talking about? What does df -h return?

Re: Virtual Box support Cannot access host partitions

Try opening your file manager and creating a test folder under /media/mugo. If that works, then you will be able to create a new folder for your VM.

One more thing to look at: what does mount | grep /media/mugo return?
