Re: Mint and Canon (Printers, Cameras...)

Thank you so much for your help guys! I was able finally to find the printer via terminal and have even given it a name, this after installing the package from the Asian help desk given by pdc_2. So Linux Mint supposedly already can connect to the printer. Yet in the printer details (when I go to "P...

Re: Mint and Canon (Printers, Cameras...)

Dear pdc_2,

thank you so much for your reply!

My Canon TS9020 has indeed arrived today!

Should I go to the link you gave me, and download something, and what are the commands?

Thankful for any further help you may be able to give me,

Changing Chromium Proxy Settings with Sandbox

Dear friends, when I set up my Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia on 4.3.2018 I Firejail Sandboxed Google Chromium for added security. This even though I'm a total Linux newb, because I have the Linux Mint firewall switched off. Now I'm having trouble accessing my university's online data archive (access to per...

Re: Multiple VLC-related issues

Thank you very much for your help Marziano!

I have removed VLC 3.0.1 but have no idea how to remove the snap package which was installed beforehand.

Do you know how to do that?

I tried to put sudo snap remove <package> but it didn't work!

Cheers,

Re: Multiple VLC-related issues

Dear Marziano, thank you for your reply. I installed VLC 3.0.1 but I also have VLC 2.2.7 working side-by-side with it. When I click "Menu" -> "Sound & Video" it shows both. I installed VLC 3.0.1 with snap package as per the following tutorial: https://www.tecmint.com/install-vlc-player-in-ubuntu-deb...

Multiple VLC-related issues

Dear friends, 1) Is it necessary to have Xplayer if you have VLC as well? Please comment if you have successfully removed Xplayer without experiencing any instability issues on your Mint system 2) Twice in the past, since formatting Mint Cinnamon Sylvia 4.3.2018, as I was playing a movie on Xplayer ...

Mint keeps undoing settings, and now won't read SSD data partition

Dear friends, ever since formatting my laptop with Linux Mint Cinnamon on 4.3.2018 it has already undone settings I have changed twice , in this case I am referring specifically to: 1. On File Manager I have set "list view" once, it lasted about a week, then was undone, so I set it again, this time ...

Mint and Canon (Printers, Cameras...)

Dear friends, I have read here and there that Canon is not a good idea for Linux users because the hardware isn't supported, and just wanted to confirm here whether that is really the case or not. I am currently looking to purchase the following items, to use in (hopefully) harmony with my Linux Min...

Everything is tiny in Clementine and qBittorrent

Hey guys! Wondering if there is any workaround for the fact that I have a poor man's OS on a rich man's laptop, IOW Mint Cinnamon Sylvia with a QHD+ 3200x1800 screen laptop, and the resultant fact that in some apps like the ones in the title I can't read anything because everything is minuscule. I h...

Re: [SOLVED]Mint won't read internal optical drive

Thanks a ton for the help guys.

I understand now that this "mountable" meshugaas is simply how Linux deals with the internal optical drives.

I reformatted the system and now have a 12GB partition for LMCS18.3, 8GB for swap, and the remaining ~236GB to play around with.

All's good!

Hi Ozo, thank you so much for your replies! [SOLVED]Mint won't connect to Bose Mini Soundlink

[SOLVED]Mint won't read internal optical drive

Hi guys! Did a check yesterday on the terminal and it doesn't seem to be reading the 256GB SSD M.2 PCIe NVMe, which it treats like an external mountable volume for some reason. This is a rig I cleaned out the Windows 10 from and replaced entirely with Sylvia manually partitioning the optical drive i...

Re: Hello from Lisbon

Hi PHD21, thank you for your considered reply! I've been having trouble enabling driver cache on the Disks program for my optical drives, which are seen by Linux Mint as external drives for some reason. This might have to do with the fact that I installed this Linux OS on a laptop which had Windows ...
