Re: Linux Mint 19 Tara: pkexec policy's, and others ...

I already agreed with you. Just because I offered workaround doesn't mean I believe that's the way it should be. ;) May the Force be with you! Thanks for the help! Actually, novice users have to think hard. Your opinion is an opinion, of course, counts somewhere. I hope my edit is ...

Re: Linux Mint 19 Tara: pkexec policy's, and others ...

When I said "you can just use sudo" I didn't mean to launch the terminal with that, but to use sudo within the terminal. that's safe. I understand and thank you for the answer, but why did pkexec be invented? You forgot to put the levels you actually want to upgrade. Best try executing the c...

Re: Linux Mint 19 Tara: pkexec policy's, and others ...

xed uses admin://<path/file> syntax to open system files. This is preferred because it allows to run the editor itself without elevated privileges. gnome-terminal policy seems to be missing indeed, mate-terminal has one. but you can just use sudo. Hi, I understand that it can be started from the fi...

Linux Mint 19 Tara: pkexec policy's, and others ...

Pkexec In my opinion, some pkexec policies are missing from the Tara release. I have prepared and replaced these here: Geany: https://pastebin.com/MmrksRib XED: https://pastebin.com/xnU1rcRP Gnome terminal: https://pastebin.com/kM5Yx5P1 They should be in the 19.1 edition. The gksu was derecognised,...

Linux Mint 19 Edition Beta ISO

Hi,

When will Tara installer „Beta” be available for testing?
Is it already?
Unfortunately not here:
http://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/linuxmint.com/testing/

I've edited the sources lists (tara, bionic), and make update/upgrade, but it would be better to test the installation.

Re: Adding Debian testing repositories to LMDE 2

Hi xenopeek, Only for the sake of completeness is information, self-experience. I mean, the experimental mirror (Debian) can not be used with the apt-pinning method, but no priority can be given. Of course, the testing mirror is more than enough for newer packages, but as an idea, the experimental m...
