Re: Window Borders with Mint 19 Cinnamon

Old metacity-1 and metacity-2 themes are no longer fully supported by Cinnamon. Some of them were poorly designed and depended on certain behaviour in Muffin. We needed to change that to fix some other issues so removed support for showing them in the theme settings. You can probably still set them...

Re: British spelling

Where are you having the problem? Your browser should have independent spell-check settings. as does libre-office, as does xed. They should all default to your system language though. This does seem to be through the browser that came with Mint. I tried installing the U.S. English dictionary for Fi...

Re: Rhythmbox cover art?

You can't browse your music collection using a cover art category with Clementine. Disappointing. I liked Banshee and would love it if the developers resolved the problem. I didn't have the problem on LM 18.3, but as I mentioned, it crashes in LM 19. In my earlier post I misspoke and said LM 19 bro...

Re: [suggestion] Replace Xed with Gedit

Opened Synaptic and typed gedit. When I tried to install it, I got a message similar to "the package doesn't exist", despite it was in the list of found items, so I had to Google for it and install it manually. With the "real" search (not "quick search", which I've found to be buggy), I don't get a...

Re: Caja / dark theme issues - invisible text cursor?

Hi all - I've noticed with almost every dark theme, the text cursor is almost completely invisible in Caja when doing things like renaming files or naming new folders. I've seen the same issue on many different dark themes...Mint Dark-Y, Adwaita-Dark, Arc-Dark, Adapta-Nokto, Pop-Dark, Ultimate-Dark...

Re: A better looking Panel ?

I don't think there's a good solution for this. What I'd suggest is moving the main panel back to the bottom or top horizontally, and then add an auto hide vertical panel on the side and add app launchers to that. I've been doing that ffor some time, and between that and using multiple workspaces a...

Re: Flatabulous theme on Mint 19

A slightly off-topic reply... after testing a ton of themes with Cinnamon on Mint 19 I found that the 'Ultimate Dark Blue Compact' won out overall (better than Mint-y-dark) and have so far seen several contrast/hidden text problems solved.

I'm going to take another look at Flatabulous.

Re: Software to watch Plex videos?

OH. I incorrectly thought there was a browser plugin or something. Ok thanks, now I get it. There is a "Plex Home Theater" (recently renamed to "Plex Media Player") which can be used, but it's not necessary. They don't have a Linux version, and it only works with your own server from within your ow...

Re: HDMI audio out not working

I can't find any solution. After a reboot, HDMI sound works fine - but I don't want to do this! Just restarting Pulseaudio isn't working - the system just says HDMI is unplugged - yet I'm looking at my desktop on my TV via HDMI (plugged in via my receiver). Apparently broken and not something to be ...
