Re: Linux Mint as a server?

Fair enough. Well then, if you get paid for putting a pretty GUI on a server, no reason you couldn't use Mint. With the Ubuntu base it has access to all the same packages as the server variant. Just be aware that as a desktop distro it installs a whole lot of applications and services/daemons that ...

Re: Linux Mint as a server?

Mint is a Desktop OS, if you want a pure server I'd suggest installing a server distro instead, e.g. Ubuntu Server https://www.ubuntu.com/download/server I was going to mention that servers generally run headless and GUI-less but given this is a newcomer question, I chose not to muddy the waters. I...

Re: Linux Mint as a server?

Awesome, any server packages to install on Mint? Which would you recommend to use? Most prob not cinnamon?

When it comes to MS these days, I'm not so sure anymore.

Linux Mint as a server?

Good Morning

I've been evaluating different opensource alternatives to Windows Server. Not a bit MS fan haha. Would Mint be able to do the job?
Been a big fan of Red Hat for a long time, however, with IBM buying them, I'm getting skeptical.

Your input would be appreciated.

Kind Regards

Re: Make a custom LM19 ISO

Have you done it before? No. I make regular backups so installing on another machine is as simple as restoring from a backup, not a single keystroke in configuration required. Mmm that might work as well. May I ask how do you go about doing this backup? I've used Linux just for home purposes. But I...

there is ways of making Grub look less sh!tty :) it really depends, on just how much Manual Editing that you wish to do .. or how much customization that you wish to do, and whether you wish to Ignore All of Those Warnings  Well, I am willing to walk the mile because currently, my GRUB is a z...

Re: Mint 19 Opinions and Reviews

Finally installed LM 19 alongside Win10. So far from a swift look, it doesn't seem half bad. Only one thing that bugs me a bit is that the customization is the exact same as LM17 and LM18. No new themes, widgets etc. Haven't gone into depth with LM19 just yet. Is there a way to get the Widgets, Them...

Re: Linux Mint 19 Dual Boot Win 10

Try pasting this into the command prompt in Win10; bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi Restart and hopefully, the Grub menu will appear. Did you install Win10 first followed by LM19? Always install Windows first. Tried in the past where I had one success story by installing Fedora f...
