Re: Installing downloaded apps in Linux Mint

You've got three files there. The "main.ini" is a configuration file. I'm certain you'll need to put your account name, password and folder name in that file. Just from what you've posted, I'm guessing the folder name will be /home/terry/ASUSWebStorage, or something like that. I'd use /home/terry/w...

Re: Installing downloaded apps in Linux Mint

Hi Moem, I am back on my Windows 10 PC at present but here is the site I downloaded the file from:- https://www.asuswebstorage.com/navigate/a/#/index/downloads There is an option to choose from and the one I chose was Linux. The download is a Zip file and it is in my Download folder. I'll return to ...

Installing downloaded apps in Linux Mint - SOLVED -

I have recently subscribed to ASUS WebStorage and have no difficulty with installing the app in Windows but I would really be much happier if I could install it on my Linux Mint notebook (converted to Linux after Microsoft announced withdrawing support for Windows 7). It is in my download folder but...

Re: USB Wi-Fi Device Realtek RTL8811AU

Brilliant! I have now rebooted and only the USB adapter shows in Network Manager but the onboard Wi-Fi LED is still displayed and if I manually switch it off I lose the network connection. However, I can live with that, I am so grateful to you for the time you have spent helping to get this sorted o...

Re: USB Wi-Fi Device Realtek RTL8811AU

You're a genius - it finally connects. There is another issue though, I can't manually switch off the PCI device without it cutting off the USB adapter, and the PCI device takes priority over the USB adapter. Is there a way round this? I have tried switching off the onboard device and re-booting but...

Re: USB Wi-Fi Device Realtek RTL8811AU

Alas JeremyB still no joy. In fact, I tried to come back on your last message but I lost the connection totally and had to reboot. I think I'll have to leave it for now, I am sorry that your efforts have not yielded the results we both hoped for and thank you for all the support your have been offer...

Re: USB Wi-Fi Device Realtek RTL8811AU

In response to your last suggestion something weird happened. First an alert xed admin:///etc/default/grub ** (xed:5231): WARNING **: 19:47:02.355: The specified location is not mounted Then a prompt for my password, followed by the following text:- # If you change this file, run 'update-grub' after...

JeremyB Two screenshots that I took from Network Manager may help with this issue. The first represents the Realtek USB Adapter, the second is the onboard PCI Wi-Fi

Re: USB Wi-Fi Device Realtek RTL8811AU

I am using the same password as with the built in WiFi but nothing is happening. I have also tried different Realtek adapters, none of which will connect. Maybe it's a Realtek issue but unfortunately I have nothing with a different chipset to try. The frustrating thing about this is, the adapters th...

I have tried that repeatedly but it keeps failing. Annoyingly it reveals a strong wireless signal but won't connect, showing message 'Activation of network connection failed'

Re: USB Wi-Fi Device Realtek RTL8811AU

JeremyB - Is there any way I can copy and paste the wifi display on here without using the conventional method of screen captures? My Realtek adapter is visible but still not functioning, although it occasionally flashes as if trying to connect.

Re: USB Wi-Fi Device Realtek RTL8811AU

Not sure if I did it right. Correct me if I'm wrong but I assumed network manager is displayed on the bottom right of the panel. When I click on the icon I get three options:- Rescan the Networks - Network Settings or Network Connections. From this list I selected Network Settings, then USB WiFi and...
