Re: [SOLVED] GIMP.. so bad compared to MS Paint. How to save in jpg?
Thanks for helping everyone in this thread who genuinely assisted, e.g. Moem and Lady Fitzgerald. Moem in particularly has helped me out on a number of occasions, which I'm honestly grateful for. Managed to approximately do what I needed to do so marked the thread as [solved] as per forum rules. Tri...

Re: How to improve Linux: the one and only way.
Anyway. I normally like to complete what I do so I feel like I'd like to get my message to the developers' attention. I have thick enough bones to take some pain, and I was expecting this thread to raise animosity from sheep. But yes, well done, you sheep made me change my mind and lose my hope on l...

Re: GIMP.. so bad compared to MS Paint. How to save in jpg?
I don't get though why they call it "export" to save as jpg. Everyone in the universe is used to "save as", then jpg. Why they make the default a file noone ever knows and jpg being obtainable only via "export"?... Many programs (not necessarily just graphics editing p...

Re: How to improve Linux: the one and only way.
Interesting. As I was expecting, people here behave like cult followers. One criticism is taken as a feedback which is so negative that it has better to be a troll, or a joke, because the skin is too thin to take it. Most of you laugh, one has thrown an attack to my intelligence, few throw excuses (...

Re: HOW TO IMPROVE LINUX: the one and only way.
Make transition from windows as seemless as possible. You're rather assuming that everyone using linux is coming from windows and likes windows. Coming first from Unix, I've never liked windows and my main complaint about linux is that it's gotten too much like windows. With this kind of small thin...

I don't get though why they call it "export" to save as jpg. Everyone in the universe is used to "save as", then jpg. Why they make the default a file noone ever knows and jpg being obtainable only via "export"? And no colors once one clicks on the paintbrush. Program i...

Re: HOW TO IMPROVE LINUX: the one and only way.
just to point out the obvious: this LinuxMint System .. is quite popular .. because They Have Improved the Linux System :!: Yeah Linux Mint is better than Linux indeed in terms of user experience. Ubuntu is alright as well. But overall usage vs MacOS and Windows is still extremely low. I want a muc...

How to improve Linux: the one and only way.
Dear Linux Mint developers, 1. As Steve Jobs said, USER EXPERIENCE comes BEFORE, not after, TECHNOLOGY 2. Therefore, KEEP IT SIMPLE, STUPID. KISS rule. Make things more noob friendly. Make transition from windows as seemless as possible. Ok, but how to gauge what is the way to go in that regard? Goo...

[SOLVED] GIMP.. so bad compared to MS Paint. How to save in jpg?
Why is GIMP such a useless piece of crap? I miss MS Paint so much! Tried to edit an image.. just wanted to cross out some words on it. 1. Takes ages to load 2. Click on paintbrush. No colors to chose. Right click on paintbrush.. nah, doesn't work. Alright, I'll use black then. 3. Save image as.. XFC...

Re: How to know where a shortcut links to without double clicking it?
If I transfer it to a Windows machine I can see it. It seems to this is a case where Linux is trying to be too helpful. But the file name appends .desktop which is hidden by the system and makes it behave differently. I do not know if or how this extension could be removed. This behavior is strange...

Behaves very strangely, tries to parse data from the actual website generating a very long text file.
This is a very basic feature smh.

How to know where a shortcut links to without double clicking it?
Drag a website's link on your desktop and you have a shortcut. In windows, you right click on shortcut > properties and you see the obvious piece of information you want: where it links to. In mint, obviously you don't get that but instead you get THREE different tabs of USELESS info, as one would e...

Re: Whenever I re-unlock the login screen, everything freezes
Kernel: 4.10.0-38-generic x86_64 I'm not saying this is the cause of your problems, but I'm fairly sure that support for the 4.10.x kernel branch ended long ago (2017? very early 2018?). For LM 18.3, the current version is 4.15.x, which is Long Term Support (LTS), good to April 2021. Joe I regularl...

Which questions I am not answering? Might be the document but then why the pointer becomes a cursor when hovering on blank spaces and some of them have been prefilled. Maybe it's a locked pdf? I've only got this laptop. I'd prefer not to upload the document. Anyway thank you and all the others for h...

Re: LibreOffice opens only the first page of PDFs
[....] Right out of the (virtual) box, Linux Mint "opens" PDF files with XReader which allows filling out forms. Even though I managed to manually set pdfs to be opened by Xreader, unfortunately it does NOT allow me to fill this document out. It opens it and I can see all pages - yes - bu...

Re: LibreOffice opens only the first page of PDFs
In an earlier post, I explained about what kinds of PDFs can be edited and how they can be edited. Please note editing a PDF document and filling out a PDF form are different things altogether. Because the OP is unclear I am afraid he might be just trying to fill out a form. When we are mixing both...
