Re: Power management config files location

There was a time every had to be done by editing config files and less savvy people -like me- were begging for graphical interfaces and now that I need to find one it can't be found! Thanks for the reply catweazel but I didn't find it. Only thing I found on the internet is /etc/default/acpi-support ...

Power management config files location

I am looking for the power management config files. Not the power management tool from the menu, but the location of the config files so that I can edit these by hand. Searched everywhere, tried google, could not find them.

Re: Unable to successfully install Linux Mint on Asus Q535UD laptop

...At the moment I need to shut off my laptop with a HARD SHUTDOWN by pressing the Power Button. That is not something I want to continue doing!... Often when it appears frozen, a Linux system can be shut down by pressing alt+SysRq (PrtSc), then while still holding alt pressing r,e,i,s,u,o. Or r,e,...

It's a weird situation but I understand how you are fed up with the laptop. Sometimes things just don't work.

Re: Unable to successfully install Linux Mint on Asus Q535UD laptop

...To be honest, I really dislike this computer and I am very close to selling this thing. I purchased it at Best Buy who deliberately failed to tell me I needed a 4K external monitor to use with this lappy. ... Maybe you mean that if you use an external screen it has to be UHD? For as much as I kn...

Re: 19.2 slower boot than 18.3 and oversized icons

This particular boot I stopped at 16.4 seconds. This laptop has the fastest post of all my systems, 2 or 3 seconds. Re: 19.2 slower boot than 18.3 and oversized icons

I had a brief moment to do systemd-analyze blame and found apt-daily.service to take 30 seconds. Apparently it is a known bug and I applied "cat's" solution down this page. In short: edit /etc/systemd/system.conf Look for and change these 2 lines: #DefaultTimeoutStartSec=90s #DefaultTimeoutStopSec=9...

Hello, Something is definitely going on. Provide your terminal results of systemd-analyze blame I am using EVO 860 and my systemd-analyze time is: uno@labonline ~ $ systemd-analyze Startup finished in 6.132s (kernel) + 2.431s (userspace) = 8.564s graphical.target reached after 2.425s in userspace Y...

19.2 slower boot than 18.3 and oversized icons

I went to do a clean install of 19.2 XFCE and encountered some issues. On this laptop not only the volume icon but also the battery icon get very large in a vertical deskbar . Also I am a bit disappointed that 19.2 on the internal Samsung 850 EVO SSD boots slower than 18.3 on a Samsung 830 SSD conne...

I share all your concerns.
I appreciated his appearance, and his active forum posts suddenly stopping does fear for the worst.
It is the anonymity of forums and internet that make that people just can disappear hardly without anyone noticing.

Re: Persistant and encryption?

Thank you gmcd2200. Currently I am using an installation on a USB stick installed as if it was a hard drive. But I have to get back from that. Even though I rarely use it already it has started to slow down to the point where sometimes you wonder if there actually comes a response to your input. In ...

Re: Can't boot from USB.

Many systems ignore the USB preset preference. But there is always an option to press a key and get a boot menu where you can select the USB.

Re: Windows is so Silly

I run several systems and the behavior through all these machines is the same. Even with XP on a conventional hard disk vs. 10 on a SSD.
I try to keep my systems lean.
