No. Since no other Linux distro has this problem, I'm still going to conclude Mint is broken somewhere.

The latest beta that came out today still has the same issue. I haven't been able to test Mint because of it. Garbled video in VirtualPC.

FWIW, Mint is the only Linux distro out of 15 or so that I've tried that has this issue with VirtualPC. I haven't tried VMWare. It's noticeable on your BootCD without installing it. Ctrl-Alt-F1 or F2, etc, gives you garbage.

What about the tty consoles? They don't work.

TTY console doesn't with with MS VirtualPC

I haven't tried a real PC yet, but I installed Mint 2.1b with Microsoft VirtualPC and got it working - except I can't see any tty consoles. If I do Ctrl-Alt-F1 or F2, etc. I get a weird graphics compressed screen. It looks like the resolution is wrong, which is not the case since it's an emulated S3...

OK, I loaded up the beta of Mint and it looks very nice. It appears there are a couple programs that are different, and I'm sure a lot of codecs and plugins under the hood are there too. A quick visit to some multimedia web sites confirmed that. So what is different, exactly, between Ubuntu and Mint...
