Re: Mint 20 display issue

Yes, I just want to do a live session and make sure it works before I install. Trying to decide if I want to upgrade from 19.3 or do a fresh install of 20. I'm leaning to the latter because when i ran the mintupgrade check there were a LOT of downgrades that needed to happen.

Re: Mint 20 display issue

Tried finding and loading the driver in compatibility mode with no luck, I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. The solution in the Mate release notes was also a no go.

Mint 20 display issue

Old Dell Optiplex 380 desktop 64 bit. All versions of Mint through 19.3, which is currently installed, run fine. When I try a live USB it appears to be loading OK through the LM logo but then the screen turns to a mess of lines and colors. When I boot into compatibility mode the display works fine. ...

Well, I'm using Slimjet until further notice. No freezes and I have found I like it a lot and does what I need to be done.

Re: Chrome Freezing After Recent System Update

I installed Slimjet and it freezes badly for me, worse than the latest Chrome. Is there a way to run Slimjet from the menu or must it always run in terminal?

Re: Chrome Freezing After Recent System Update

I just installed a Chrome update to version 79.0.3945.117 and, so far, appears to have solved the problem. Came across on Update manager.

Re: Chrome Freezing After Recent System Update

Does going to the second tab permanently stop the freezing or does it continue meaning that you have to keep going to the second tab?

Re: Chrome Freezing After Recent System Update

I could not find Chromium stable 79.0.3945.88 any where so I deleted Chromium and installed Chrome stable 79.0.3945.88-1. No freezes so far in just a few minutes but will see how it goes. If it still freezes hopefully an update fix occurs soon.

Re: Chrome Freezing After Recent System Update

I had the same problem with Chrome & Vivaldi on LM 19.3. Installed latest Chrome, same problem. So, I deleted Chrome. I had NO problems with vivaldi-stable_2.9.1705.41-1_amd64, but I upgraded/installed vivaldi-stable_2.10.1745.21-1_amd64, same lock-ups in Vivaldi. Removed Vivaldi 2.10.1745.21-1 and...

So, any action on a fix yet? I really do not like Firefox and want to get back to using Chrome or Chromium!

Re: Chrome Freezing After Recent System Update

Sure glad I looked here because I've been going crazy trying to figure this out for the last week or so. Deleted Chrome and installed Chromium and of course same problem. Finally tried my backup browser Firefox and it's fine. I assume that Chrome will push out an update, hopefully soon, to fix this?

19.1 freezes and needs hard reset

I am running 19.1 64 bit Cinnamon 4.0.8 with kernel 4.15.0-43 Generic on a Dell Optiplex 380 Pentium machine using Chrome. Never had any problems with 19 but occasionally with 19.1 the machine will freeze. The mouse pointer still moves but no other input works and I have to push the button for a har...

Bars and buttons no color

Mint 19 amd64 Cinnamon. The buttons and bars, for example the horizontal bar the runs as something is loaded, have no color which makes it hard to see them sometimes. Is there somewhere in preferences I can change this? I have looked and not found anything.

Dual boot Win7 and Mint 19 SOLVED

My machine is an old Dell Optiplex 380 with BIOS A07 which is the latest version. I recently got a second SSD drive on which I loaded Win7 Ultimate. I already had Mint 19 installed on another SSD. Both are 64 bit OS. Both drives are recognized and both work but I have been unable to get the grub boo...
