Re: Windows 10 installation

Hello ostech and welcome to Linux Mint. Since this is a VB specific question, you are probably better off referring to the VB website or YouTube for a video walk through. Good luck!!

Re: Two questions, clock and printer

Hey Steve, I don't have any possible solutions for you at this time, but I have some suggestions for improving your "Subject" lines when posting. :D In this post, you have 2 separate issues. It is always best to split them up. This keeps the recommendations much more clear and easier to follow. Next...

[Solved] Mint 19.1 menu search errors

I just upgraded to Mint 19.1. I've noticed improper results when doing a menu search. Following is an example of me typing a "q" to quickly find Qbittorrent. The first result is Guake Terminal, followed by LibreOffice Math. Any thoughts on how to correct this?

Re: Logitech k400 touchpad double click not working mint 19

I see my question is getting plenty of views, but no recommendations. Is there more information that I need to provide to help figure out my issue? It's been a few weeks without any recommendations. This is very rare for the Mint forum. I'm guessing this doesn't have an easy fix. I'm going to mark i...

Re: [SOLVED] How to prevent a specific kernel upgrade

Hey gm10...I've switched back to the previous kernel for now. My system is very new and I haven't had any issues until the system freeze after the update. I will give it more time to see if the issue returns. If no issue, I will hold off for the next kernel update. If I continue to experience issues...

Re: How to prevent a specific kernel upgrade

Thanks everyone for the assistance. I will follow Pjotr's recommendations until the next kernel is released. Also, a thank you to gm10 for pointing out that it is only one kernel number 4.15.9-42.45, not 2.

[SOLVED] How to prevent a specific kernel upgrade

I'm currently running Mint 19 with kernel 4.15.0-39. Earlier today I installed updates that included 2 kernels 4.15.0-42 and 4.15.0-45. A few hours later, I experienced my first system freeze. I couldn't get anything to respond and needed to do a hard shutdown. I've since downgraded to -39 and delet...

Re: Fresh install of Cinnamon 19 on new SSD Very slow to boot

Hello Bimbo! I just went through this myself for the past couple of days. I came across the following that solved it for me. Hopefully it will work for you also. I followed the steps on https://www.linuxuprising.com/2018/08/h ... -swap.html to switch from a swap drive to a swap file. This has correc...

Re: Linux mint 19 slow boot up

My home drive is not encrypted. However, I use Insync to sync with my Google drive. I have one folder on Google that is encrypted.

I changed the grub delay from 10sec to 2sec as per the link. It didn't make any change in boot time. I suspect it isn't noticeable due to the other time constraints.

That has improved the startup time from 2min 40sec to 1min 7sec, which is great! I'm guessing this is still much slower than it should be?
