I'm using Insync. Seems to work well.

Re: Finally time to move from Windows to Mint

I made the break 4.5 years ago. Glad I did. Occasionally I still work on a Windows machine for special jobs. But it is rare. And when I go back to Mint I breath a thankful sigh of relief.

Re: USB flash/thumb drives can ONLY be ejected, but not unmounted in GUI ?

You can unmount it using Gparted by right clicking the drive once it's highlighted and choose unmount. Yes, and I think that the reason that this "deficiency" in Nemo never bothered me is because I automatically go to Gparted for most of the operations that would involve unmounting. There is someth...

Re: Best backup utility for Mint 19.2?

I think keeping your system safe involves a number of steps starting from when it is first set up. I am from the old school so I like to have my data on a separate physical drive. Each night I back up the data to an external drive by compressing it into an archive (tar.gz) located on an external dri...

Re: LMDE 2 Betsy Mate 64bits, and then ?

There is Ubuntu Mate, the official flavor of Ubuntu. This is not the standard Ubuntu with the Mate desktop added. This is the site: https://ubuntu-mate.org/ This distro has about 6 different work flow arrangements for the desktop and has one that kind of copies the Mac theme. I've been running Ubunt...

Re: Solved - Synaptic Problem

Thanks.

I finally got everything straightened out and the program installed. Now I am running into what I believe are bugs in the program. That might be the subject for another thread.

Re: Synaptic Problem

Well that didn't work. I got the same error message after I rechecked the repositories. One of those repositories was Insync. I deleted it and that ended the problem. Now I have to confess to further sins. When I was trying to fix this problem I deleted the packages that were from Insync. So now I d...

Solved - Synaptic Problem

I messed up on an upgrade installation of Insync. I need help to fix this problem. I think I tried to install the wrong version from the terminal. Now when I do a refresh in update manager I get a warning "Could not download all repository indexes." More explanation from Synaptic: The repository may...

Re: Why is MX-Linux more popular than LinuxMint?

I've spent a lot of time with MX Linux and its cousin antiX. They are great distributions but in my opinion their appeal is to a different, much smaller audience than Mint. I keep MX Linux around and keep experimenting with it because I've found that in some situations it can be useful for getting L...

Re: Problems with USB installation

Too late now but in the future always make sure you have an image, using something like Clonezilla. That way when things go bad you just restore the image which doesn't take much technical knowledge.

For people not comfortable with Linux a Chromebook is a better choice than Linux or Windows 10.

Re: Moving Linux Mint to a new SSD

It is possible to have Clonezillia restore to a smaller than original drive. It is done by basically telling it not to check the drive sizes. However in this case I agree that a new installation with Timeshift is likely to work better. On a dual boot system the OP's data was likely stored outside of...

Re: Richard Stallnman Gnu Fsf compliant respective mint?

I've seen some Stallman interviews and visited his website. He is a very bright guy and maybe even a genius. But he is far out in left field. The world can't operate as we know it using his model. There has to be a certain level of trust. Even players like Google and Microsoft where there is a lot o...

Computers are tools. You use tools to get work done. I think it is possible to get too philosophical about the whole thing.

Re: I love Win7, and that's why I'm using Mint

>>Someone said that Win8 and Win10 are the best things that happened to Linux, and I couldn't agree more.<< That's probably true. I was never in love with Win 7 but in retrospect it was better than what came afterwards. It was win 8.1 that drove me to Linux after one year of use. Fortunately I found...

Re: Mintbox Mini 2 - Disk full? Cannot login anymore

My guess is that the problem is not with Timeshift.

You will probably have to boot in with the install drive and then look at your drive to see where the storage space has been used up. The first place I would look is in var/log.

Re: F2 key not accessing BIOS in Dell Inspiron 6000

I found that on a Toshiba when fast boot was turned on I could only get into the bios by holding down the F2 key from the time the power button was pushed.
