Re: Internet intolerably slow

Thanks. If it's not hardware or antenna and the signal is good that seems to leave only software. I wonder if I upgrade from 19.0 to 19.2 would that potentially set right what is not working? -Howard

The upload and download speeds come from the online speed test, and they are what I always get with that test. Thanks for your effort -Howard

Internet intolerably slow

Hi- This post is a follow up from a previous one on Aug. 22 of this year. At that time the problem was intermittent and is now almost continuous. It used to work just fine. In that thread Pjotr suggested this: Try this: https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.c ... .html#ID11 (item 11) And make sure t...

slider bar on youtube

Hi- I'm not sure that this is the right sub-forum. The slider bar on youtube is so thin that I can't read the times of the video. I'm using Firefox, Linuxmint 19, mate. Thanks everyone. -Howard

{Solved} google maps opens in the wrong location

Hi- Google maps seems to think I'm in Charlotte, North Carolina, but I'm home in my house in California. I'm using Firefox but the problem also happens in Chromium. I'm using Linuxmint 19.0 I had been looking at Charlotte yesterday. I've cleared all my history and also tried the locate me button on ...

Timeshift on usb stick [SOLVED]

I'm concerned about having adequate backup for my computer, system and data. Can I save a Timeshift snapshot on a usb stick and will that be adequate for backup? If yes, can you boot a computer from such a stick? Thanks -Howard

Re: enabling timeshift?

Thanks. When I did this I realized that the squares to the left of the hour/daily/ etc. were unchecked, I checked them and now timeshift is re-enabled. What is a reasonable schedule for these? Again Thanks.

enabling timeshift? (SOLVED)

Hi. I went to look at my Timeshift log, just to see that it was working properly. It isn't! I found it wasn't! Scheduled snapshots were disabled and hadn't been run since February of this year. I can't find how to enable the snapshots. And I have no idea why the process had been disabled. Please hel...

Re: internet has slowed down intermittently

Hello Pjotr. First, thank you again. I've done the first thing on your list. The outcome of the speedtest was: Ping ms 17 Download Mbps 178.35 Upload Mbps 5.89 I have no indication that things became unstable. I will get to the others later today. A question that occurs to me is: why would this mach...

Re: internet has slowed down intermittently

Well, I was able to turn off Power Management and that seemed to help a little. But I still have problems.. One repeated problem is when trying to log onto a website I getting stuck with the computer "waiting" for the site. If I stop the process with the "x" and try again the site opens normally. An...

Re: internet has slowed down intermittently

Thanks again Pjotr. I was able to execute the sequence that you referenced and it did turn the Power Management off. It will take some time to see if the process worked to eliminate the intermittent slow-down. I will report back in a few days. -Howard
