Are they not working in any of these operating systems when you plug them in?
No I mean they are working in both ... I just want software for sharing my mouse and keyboard between multiple computers.
Hope that's clear :)

Software for Windows/linux input

So I have 2 desktops one with Linux and another with windows. I have only 1 keyboard and mouse at the moment so how can I share my input with both the systems?

Is there any software that I can use in both the operating systems? :?

You didn't say which version you're using!!

In 19 it's a known issue if installing from the software manager. There is a fix on github the dev's are aware and the problem will be resolved by updating your machine once the fix has been tested and approved. Not long I should imagine.
Its mate 18.3

Re: re-install windows on linux

Do you have any precious data on your disk ?
If not then you can go ahead with reinstalling windows again .. complete format..clean install
as you said you have a windows 7 key right .. ?
Then you can upgrade to windows 10 without hesitation.

Re: Old Compaq desktop not booting

If the disk is not booting then probably your CPU fan is malfunctioning.
Recheck your CPU fan.
And if the Display is not working then you should probably check your RAM.

Created a xorg.conf file

/etc/X11/xorg.conf

Inside the file paste this:

Code: Select all

Section "ServerFlags"
    Option "BlankTime" "0"
EndSection

What is swappiness ?

Code: Select all

cat /proc/sys/vm/swappiness
60

Code: Select all

cat /proc/sys/vm/swappiness
10
Does this really improve the system performance ?

I have changed it from 60 to 10, but it doesn't feel like I have got some performance boost.

Welcome to the forum! But can you please remove that signature image? It's giving me a headache. I don't think anyone here is going to enjoy seeing that same image again and again.
Done sorry :)
