Re: Firefox no longer localized after upgrade

Thanks azathoth,

For my dutch language, there's only a dictionary in that list, not a language pack.

Re: LMDE missing Norwegian Bokmal language

I got it. Now I just ned to change language on firefox and thuderbird. In case you're still looking for the solution, you can install a Bokmal Norwegian Firefox and Thunderbird from the package manager (Synaptic). That will be Firefox 3.6.8. But..if you upgrade it to 3.6.10, as Mozilla recom...

Firefox no longer localized after upgrade

I upgraded from 3.6.8 to 3.6.10 -as root-, this worked fine but now Firefox is back in English. Is there way to change the language to my locale? Searched for language packs, but did not find anything.

Thanks!
Bert

( Edit: for the insiders; could this be related to Bug 636659? )

Re: Can't Play DVDs in LMDE

Good news 8)

I had some mpeg- 4 films on a usb HD, that opened and played perfectly with Totem, full screen, sound, everything.
I then tried to play some with Gnomeplayer, Mplayer and VLC and they all worked flawlessly!

So, the problem is narrowed down to the DVD player.
We'll get there :)

Re: Can't Play DVDs in LMDE

Thanks Larry, I'm a little confused now...I played these dvd's without any problem in Ubuntu and (Pepper)mint. Does this mean the Debian base of LMDE has a different policy for playing DVD's? The films I tried to watch are store-bought, nothing illegal. I'm in Europe by the way. Sorry for my limited...

Re: Can't Play DVDs in LMDE

I would like to add that I have problems too, when trying to play a dvd. Tested this with several dvd's to be sure. When the dvd is inserted, the file manager opens and has a main button: "Open Totem Mediaplayer" This works fine, Totem opens up and starts to play yhe DVD. However, with two problems:...

Re: Regarding XFCE......

Please pardon my lack of knowledge... and if this is in the wrong place, I apologize..... I realize that a lot of work has gone into this new edition and with all appreciation, I want to know what the advantage is of using this version VERSUS using Synaptic to get XFCE and adding that to an existin...

Kinne, thanks from me as well! Downloading now at about 120KB/s, which is my maximal ADSL speed. Good!

Shouldn't there be a md5-checksum somewhere?
Thanks again.

Seems that the app has not seen your CD burner. You do have one?
Yes, I'm in Mint. And I do have a cd burner. Moreover, it's brandnew  It's a functioning cd/dvd burner, it burnt Mint without problems (from another distro)

Thanks!

How to burn an ISO file to cd?

I tried the right-click "open with cd burning" and it didn't work. It opens a little window "write to disk", where the only option is "write to file image" and burning speed can't be set.

I'm probably overseeing something. Any help much appreciated!

Thanks John, Yes, I've seen the icewm packages in synaptic. Problem is I have a history of destroying distros by adding things. I much enjoy the solid Linux Mint as it is now, in its pristine state and am hesitant to start experimenting.. Before Linux Mint I spent some weeks with Ubuntu and bo...

IceMint

I've been trying out Cassandra for several weeks now and, like many, I'm impressed! Has anyone ever thought of creating a version of Linux Mint based on Icewm, instead of Gnome? I've been following the developments of the Enlightment and Xfce versions with much interest, but from what I understood, ...
