Re: Grub menu can't be edited

Too late. I booted from live usb, formated the entire damn /dev/sda1 EFI partition, and tried to reinstall GRUB with instructions from here: https://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/245 Unsurprisingly, it didn't work, it returned a message about a /usr/share/grub/x86_64.efi file not being there...

Re: SD card will not mount

Thanks for you help guys. So far I've spent about 20 hours on the problem. I simply refuse to spent any more time on this, I don't find it worthy. Thanks for your help, you are the best

Thanks for your answers guys. I appreciate it. @all41 That's also what I thought, I just had no idea what to do. Now I see why. I hope one day you can explain to me what you did there :D . Grub menu can't be edited

So I have a triple boot system (mint 19, backbox and windows 10) uefi mode. I wanted to change the boot timeout (countdown timer) from 10 to 5 seconds, change default boot system from Backbox to Mint, and by the way add some background to the boot screen. It's not the first time I'm doing this. Only...

@lsemmens I hadn't thought about those. You are right, a forum is drastically different than a social media. Thanks anyway.

Re: Sometimes SD card recognized, sometimes not

Hey guys, breaking news: - I noticed that sometimes, if I plug the SD and leave it plugged, it MAY suddenly start working after 2-3 minutes have passed. Some other times however, nothing will happen, no matter how much time passes. - Second thing I found: if after connecting the SD card it doesn't w...

Re: SD card will not mount

Ok this is officially extra-terrestial. The problem still persists: I plug the SD card and it doesn't mount or even show in the "devices" list in Nemo. - I just noticed that sometimes, if I plug the SD and in doesn't work and leave it plugged, it MAY suddenly start working after 2-3 minutes have pas...

Re: Another windows 10 - mint 19 dual boot issue

Thanks! That worked! Kind of strange that it was just that. I can't believe I lost an entire day without doing something I knew about. Guess it was because I read somewhere that Grub is a BIOS thing, and now with UEFI it's obsolete... guess I'll have to be more careful about what I read (or what I ...

Another windows 10 - mint 19 dual boot issue [SOLVED]

I know, there are thousands of dual boot posts out there, but my case is special. What's so special in my case? It's that after 10 hours of reading and trying, nothing will work. Nothing. Wanted a dual boot system. Installed windows 10 before Mint, 'cause, you know, the opposite brings problems (lol...

Re: Sometimes SD card recognized, sometimes not

Mine yesterday worked. Just for one time, just for half an hour, until I dismounted it. Now it isn't. And it doesn't want to work anymore, no matter what I do to it. If you read the links I gave above, you will see that's exactly what many people are complaining about, that sometimes the SD card wor...

Username change in forum [SOLVED]

Hi everyone! I want to change my username in the forum and in the community site. But I don't see how this is possible in any of them. -The forum has the profile -> edit account menu, where you can change all kinds of stuff, but changing the username is not an option. It does however say "To change ...

Re: SD card will not mount

Phd21 I mentioned above that Gparted gave me info and pointed me to a FAT32 problem. Now you gave me another idea: I backup up my data in the phone and erased the FAT32 partition using gparted, so I could make a new one, and see if that solved the problem. It wouldn't let me with an error message (I...

Re: SD card will not mount

Thanks for keeping up helping phd21, very kind of you :)

exfat-fuse and exfat-utils are already installed, probably by default (on my mint 19.1 but also on my mint 18 desktop pc). So no luck there.

Re: Sometimes SD card recognized, sometimes not

When it doesn't see the SD card, open gparted. If you don't have it installed, install it with sudo apt install gparted See if it has an exclamation mark for your sd card. If yes, right click on it and select information. If gparted is moaning something about FAT32, then congratulations, you are ano...
