Re: Updating my Linux Mint 17.2 to 17.3

Many thanks for your patience and input.

After the bios splash screen (if that is what you call it!)
What comes up is like the first image.
The bottom line is where you chose windows.

I will see if I can do a PrtSc, not sure how.

Re: Updating my Linux Mint 17.2 to 17.3

Many thanks Karl. I appreciate the time and comments. The place where 17.2 MATE shows up is the first screen before Mint or Windows XP loads. It is the screen with multiple options to boot, default is Mint (listed as 17.2, but is in fact 17.3, I started with 17.2 when I first loaded it, then later u...

Re: [SOLVED] Installing Mint on an ancient pre-historic laptop???

Great work. Love seeing old hardware being given new life by Linux. I have Mint 17.3 on this little Acer Aspire One ZG5. Was going to suggest using this on yours but you have better advice, and it is going now, so all good. I am a total newbie to this. Robin Love the Czech Republic. Been there a few...

Re: Updating my Linux Mint 17.2 to 17.3

Clearly no one has a solution to my question re changing the details on initial start up before Mint loads. Wondering where I can go to find what I want to know.

Re: Libre Office spellcheck

Many thanks. I had read something similar before, but could not do that. The options weren't as you, or they suggested. However, your prompting encouraged me to be more persistent. I found the box to tick. It was under tools/languages/for all text. This is the problem with being a relative newbie. N...

Libre Office spellcheck (SOLVED)

The spell check is not working on Libre Office 6, on my Acer Aspire ZG5, running Mint 17.3 Mate. I have searched bu not found a solution so far. In Libre Office I try to tick the American spelling but it says none. I will recheck the place where it offers the tick option but I can't seem to get to w...

Re: 18.3 XFCE is so rock solid

My 2cents worth. I have absolutely no idea what I am talking about. I dabbled with Linux in some form about 10 years ago, but nothing much until recently when I put Mint 18.3 XFCE on my Acer Aspire 5310. It was terrible on Vista, had all sorts of bugs. Now on Mint it goes well, I am thinking of putt...

Updating my Linux Mint 17.2 to 17.3

Great thread for a newbie like me to read. I have some questions re something else and upgrading. I have installed Mint 17.2 MATE on two Acer Aspire One ZG5 netbooks. Then upgraded to 17.3. I think that will be enough for the specs of these old netbooks. When I upgraded it did not change the 17.2 t...

Re: no wifi/ wireless unavailabe on LM 18.3

Not sure if it is relevant, but check out my thread on no wifi on my Acer Aspire 5310.

I had to change the driver.
Took me about 2 weeks to figure it out, but not without lots of help from the members or this forum.

Re: Acer Aspire 5310 wifi not working

Many thanks, that is really, really weird. I tried your first suggestion. It worked! So again many thanks. :x I had tried that before under a 17.2 version and it did not work. However I did not do the purge command in the terminal, so maybe that was why some conflict with the earlier install. Now al...
