Re: Unwated/unplanned restarts

Doing video intense things can heat up a processor more. Next time using video like youtube, also check your temp values. Do you have lm-sensors installed? I do not have lm-sensors installed and do not know what that is. I don't know how to check temp values, but will google to see if I can figure ...

Re: Unwated/unplanned restarts

I would also look at the content of your /(root) directory. It looks like you do not have a separate /home partition, but 192G sounds big to me - unless you have a lot of personal data on there. The issue, to me, is that it is 90% full & that is a great deal more than I would be comfortable with......

Re: Unwated/unplanned restarts

Hi, First thing when posting, prob best to give the output of inxi -Fxz to give ppl an idea of your hardware/desktop environment. With older laptops, sometimes dust can block vents and lead to overheating. Always worth giving the lappy a vacuum all over. Don't be shy. Can you also check the SMART s...

Unwated/unplanned restarts

Starting a few days ago, definitely within the last week, my laptop running Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon 64-bit will just randomly restart. At first I thought maybe I didn't notice the battery life running low or something. But it happens even if plugged in and the laptop is high on charge. I have zero ...

Converting .aax to Play Offline

Hello, I purchased something on audible. I want to be able to use it when my laptop is not connected to the internet. Does anyone know an easy way to convert an aax file to mp3 or mp4 or really anything that plays in VLC? I do not always have the ability to be connected to the internet, and it seems...

Re: Installing Linux Mint on Brand New Laptop

Thanks to both of you! It arrives in a couple days. I'll just pop in the thumb drive and give F2 a try on my initial startup and see if I can get it to go :)

Installing Linux Mint on Brand New Laptop [SOLVED]

I am a newbie who installed Linux Mint on an old laptop last month. Well, it has died due to an irreparable hardware issue. However, I had enough of a taste of Linux Mint to know I liked it and want to stick with it. I have ordered this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079QZ5DD7/ref= ASUS VivoBoo...

Re: [SOLVED] Two-Part: Finding Network Manager & Setting up ExpressVPN

Also, I can see Network Manager in the icon tray now. However, when I highlight VPN Connections from the options, there is no option related to my ExpressVPN, though I check status in the terminal, and it is running.

Re: [SOLVED] Two-Part: Finding Network Manager & Setting up ExpressVPN

Hi perplexed_penguin, Welcome to the wonderful world of Linux Mint and its excellent forum! I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well. It would help to know more about your system setup. If you run " inxi -Fxzd " and " lsusb " from the console terminal p...

Wow, thanks so much! For some reason, working along with that video got it working just fine for me.

expressvpn connect/status/list/connect

That seems to be all I will really need :) Thanks again, and have a nice day.
