Re: Laggy LM 19(.1) XFCE-MATE

That's what I advised in my second posting in this thread:  https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=289811#p1606209 Anyway, good to hear that it's solved. Ops, thank you very mach! I missed that one. But I'll try your "Turn off visual effects in MATE" and hope for similar results. :...

Re: Laggy LM 19(.1) XFCE-MATE

...try disabling the compositor in XFCE's settings, log-out & log-in back, see if that makes a difference. Thank you for your response! Although I can not guarantee it, it seems that disabling the compositor did the trick, and fixed the problems I mentioned with the terminal and the multiple select...

Re: Laggy LM 19(.1) XFCE-MATE

Sorry for asking, but I think that my hard drive may not stand many more changes of distros. So I've tried LM 19 Cinnamon when they came out, and although too "heavy" for me, they were not laggy at all. So as I imagine they run the same kernel as the XFCE and MATE edition. And my question now; is it...

Re: Laggy LM 19(.1) XFCE-MATE

But I have this problem only with LM 19(.1) XFCE... I've run successfully on the same laptop: Manjaro XFCE, Xubuntu and LM 18.3 XFCE.
This is why I'm asking if there is any way, that the kernel is the problem...

Re: Laggy LM 19(.1) XFCE-MATE

I run the command while runnning LM 19.1 XFCE through a bootable usb. I get this: System: Host: mint Kernel: 4.15.0-20-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 7.3.0 Desktop: Xfce 4.12.3 Distro: Linux Mint 19.1 Tessa base: Ubuntu 18.04 bionic Machine: Type: Laptop System: ASUSTeK product: X540SAA v:...

Re: [SOLVED] Windows like panel

I found out that there are some panel plugins; for XFCE there is DockBarX and for MATE there is mate-dock.
For anyone else had the same question with me! :D

[SOLVED] Laggy LM 19(.1) XFCE-MATE

Hello. Ok, so I am more interested in LM 19.1 XFCE edition, but I encounter some problems every time I run from a bootable usb (or install) LM 19 XFCE or MATE on my laptop. I thought that the lags I encountered would go away with the 19.1 release, but I was wrong :( ...I'm talking for some things li...

Re: Windows like panel

YES! Thank you Joss! That's exactly what I was talking about! :D :D ...But in the article you shared I saw information only for the cinnamon desktop. Do we know if LM 19.1 MATE will implement it too? Or if we'll be able to install it on our own?? (Cinnamon is too heavy for me :( )

Re: Windows like panel

I don't know how to be more specific than basically saying that I want to make my panel like Solus' or Windows' ....you can see how those panels work by looking at a video.... also on Ubuntu MATE the item that I'm describing is called Dock "an application dock for the MATE panel" as it says at it's ...

Re: Windows like panel

I'm currently not running LM, so I guess my question is kind of hypothetical. But in general I ask if you can implement the exact way running apps look like on Solus (or Windows if you will), in any other distro and desktop environment. And also when I say dock item, that's the name of the item when...

[SOLVED] Windows like panel

Hello, I like windows panel (when the open app stays highlighted on the same icon you clicked to open it) and I think this kind of panel helps my productivity. I've seen that they have implement it on Solus and also can make your panel look like that on Ubuntu MATE by adding the dock item on your pa...

[SOLVED] Some questions about Mint XFCE

Hello guys, I'm probably going to install an XFCE distro both on my desktop and my laptop, because any of them has pretty good specs! I wanted to ask what is the difference of Mint XFCE being a community release and not an "official" one!? Does it make it more unstable or buggy? (stupid question, I ...

Re: GRUB bootloader problem!

Other's have found this - the trick is to install without being connected to the internet and then once done plug back in and run the updates. Discussed in this thread https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=272886 It worked for me. Still annoying. Thank you (and the guys from the other p...

Re: Dual boot Mint 19 with win 10 - problem with grub

Okay, so I was thinking that maybe you had Windows 10 installed in Legacy Mode, and then you installed Linux Mint on UEFI Mode, so now you can not access your Legacy Mode OS. I do not know if there's an easy way to solve this, but if you can, I would suggest to clean install your Windows on UEFI Mo...

[SOLVED] GRUB bootloader problem!

SOS guys, I'm trying to install Linux Mint 19 MATE by erasing disk on my ASUS laptop and I get a problem during the installation. Any idea?? Have I done something on my BIOS? (Yes Secure boot is disabled). The error says: The 'grub-efi-and64-singed' package failed to install into /target/. Without t...

[SOLVED]Laggy Mint 19 (xfce)

Okay, so I hate to be that guy, but I have to tell this! I was waiting for Linux Mint 19 like there was no tomorrow (I use xfce DE by the way), and then it came out (the official release, not the BETA version). But when I tried it on my laptop, I found it laggy in many ways, not something big, but I...

[SOLVED]Trusted site and suggestions??

Hello guys, I am going to clean install Linux Mint 19 xfce (in my opinion the best DE there is) today, and I just saw this site " https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/first-mint-xfce " talking about Linux Mint stuff. So I was wandering if any of you (surely most experienced on Mint tha...

[SOLVED] Desktops

Hi guys, I'm a big fun of Linux Mint, and waiting for the new 19 version, I was wandering if I should install XFCE or MATE deskrop. I have used both of them, and I should say I am more fan of XFCE (and also it is kind of faster on my laptop). But reading for both of them, I see very often the line "...
