New SSD; create dual boot & clone software

Guidance Needed: 1. I am replacing my 500GB SSD with a new 2TB SSD. 2. I want to set up the new SSD to dual boot Windows 10 and Linux Mint 19.3 (my present system) 3. My present SSD only has Linux Mint 19.3 on it (fully operational with all my laptop drivers updated). 4. As source for the Windows 10...

Re: Cinnamon unable to launch "cinnamon-session-cinnamon" X session

Might I ask that we not get snarky. Linux is a difficult operating system to learn, especially by average people who don't spend their lives dealing with computer code and syntax, but have come from a Windows or Apple environment. It would be ever so much more helpful to the growth of Linux if we, a...

Re: Backup/Restore iPhone in Linux environment

Aiseesoft.com (https://www.aiseesoft.com/support.html) has developed some awesome non-Apple utilities to work with iPhone backup/recovery. They support Windows & Mac, but many of their packages also support open source Linux. Their FoneLab iphone (and Android) backup/recovery MIGHT work better i...

Mount Partition error: /home mounted twice?

Partition listed twice in "df -l" Newbie. New install of LinuxMint 19.2 on 64bit dual boot environment with Win10. LM set up with partitions for / (root)[20GB], swap [8GB or 1x ram], /home [461GB = remaining space]. Both LM and Win are working. Problem: I wasn't seeing the /home directory ...

Re: If Printing Services Stops - ...Just Reinstall... [UPDATE] Don't Do This

Folks - newbie here ... not seeing a solution except the suggestion to reinstall. My problem is correctly described above - my /etc/cups/cupsd.conf file is empty except for the one configuration change I made that does show in the file ("PreserveJobHistory No"). Mine is a new installation ...

CUPS Stopped Running, can't re-start, conf file empty

re: "solved: CUPS Stopped Running & Can't Start It" by Jim Smith (Jim7fl) and others: Congrats! Nice thinking outside the box! ... BUT: **I don't have such a copy of "/etc/cups/cupsd.conf" elsewhere from which to copy the needed data**? (mine is a new install of my first prin...

Re: Did gpg fingerprint signature change?

Thanks! But the fingerprint I got back was radically different - "good" signature signed by RSA key "300F846BA25BAE09", when I used OSX Terminal to run "gpg --verify sha256sum.txt.gpg sha256sum.txt"
So my question stands, even as I do need new glasses!

Did gpg fingerprint signature change?

Downloaded Mint Cinnamon 18.3, 64 bit; verification doesn't look right. Using OSX terminal mode and gpg: 1) Verified ISO image with [sha256sum -b *.iso] = success. Matches x64 Cinnamon key. 2) Next, verified the authenticity of the sha256sum.txt file using gpg. Imported the Linux Mint signing key = ...

rEFInd dual boot OSX?

Semi-Newbie. Using rEFInd to dual boot. Linux Mint 18.3 install from Flash Drive is not "seeing" my partitions, install is NOT offering "Install Linux Mint alongside Max OS X". Steps taken: 1. Snow Leonard worked fine, but slow. Plenty of HD space. Seeking to dual boot, adding Li...

Re: unable to verify the sha256sum.txt.gpg Mint 18.3 Cinnamon

I've followed the noted steps to verify the file signature of sha256sum.txt, and gpg reports "Good signature from "Linux Mint ISO Signing Key <root@linuxmint.com>" - BUT, the signature "using RSA key 300F846BA..." DOES NOT match the "A25BAE09" key. (for Linux Mint ...
