Re: A sudden shutdown despite battery didn't lost its charge

I installed Windows7, and tested the same game, then unplugged the charger, and I could play the same game on the battery without any issues for quite some time, but I noticed that the performance was lower when I was using the battery, so I changed the settings for the battery from power saving to ...

Re: A sudden shutdown despite battery didn't lost its charge

This laptop is not 5 years old yet, and I clean it every year once or twice. The laptop is up and running for 40 minutes, and the battery still has 75% of its charge, so the battery works just fine, but when playing games, it reports itself to be very low, and that leads to instant shutdown, and la...

That is not the case, because I can play for hours when the charger being used instead of the battery.

Re: A sudden shutdown despite battery didn't lost its charge

HP doesn't include any way to go back to a previous version of BIOS. Now, I installed Windows7 to find another way to install the older BIOS, and Windows7 sabotaged one of my EXT4 partitions, and it chose the most important partition in my hard disk. Isn't that great?!

Re: A sudden shutdown despite battery didn't lost its charge

I recently updated my bios, and I think that is the cause of the problem. Also, I have just booted to KDE Neon, and it doesn't even recognize my battery. I will go back to old version of bios, and see what will happen.

Re: A sudden shutdown despite battery didn't lost its charge

No, I play intensive games that needs dGPU to run, and they run at the same framerate as running them from the charger. I got an error at the beginning of the boot procedures tells me that my internal battery is at very low capacity despite almost being fully charged. System: Host: ahmed-HP-ProBook-...

Re: Some suggestions for Linux Mint, and Linux Mint blog

But I see no reason to disable hibernation by default when a swap partition is created, and enabled during installation. It doesn't work well on a small but not insignificant proportion of hardware due to buggy BIOS/UEFI implementations. Upstream Ubuntu disabled it by default back in 12.04 apart fr...

Re: Some suggestions for Linux Mint Cinnamon, and Linux Mint blog

I guess hibernation has to be enabled for hybrid sleep to be available? It looks like Cinnamon's Power Settings module will offer it if the system is capable of it. https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon/blob/master/files/usr/share/cinnamon/cinnamon-settings/modules/cs_power.py#L189 Ah, didn't reali...

Try this:

(item 8 )

Use it to install the latest kernel of the 5.2 series. Then reboot and test.
It is the same for kernel 5.2, and 5.3.

Re: Some suggestions for Linux Mint, and Linux Mint blog

what about suspend. I don't mean suspend to disk. I mean the normal suspend. Ordinary suspend, or suspend-to-ram, should be enabled by default. No, it is enabled, but it is not available in the options for [When the battery is critically low] like in this picture: https://i.postimg.cc/ZRnrnxj6/Scre...

2) Hibernation must likely be configured first. At least on MATE we got this: 3) On MATE there's a checkbox to dim the screen while on battery, see above. 4) It's already on the right side with the edit options: 5) Use another theme 6) Install another screenshot application then, it makes no sense ...

I can help you with the first point. When you log-in, look along to the far left side of the Linux Mint banner. You'll see a 'Quick links' tab next to FAQ. Click here then click 'Your posts'. Took me ages to find that too  I am not talking about the forum. I am talking about the blog, but that...

Re: Looking for love.. and games.

Batman Arkham (Asylum & City) Those two are in fact among the 6 free games being given out free by EPIC this week. As to 'good story' I from his examples sort of gathered that was not the primary idea here though... He will need Lutris to install, and use Epic Launcher. Steam has way better compati...

Some suggestions for Linux Mint Cinnamon, and Linux Mint blog
