Re: [SOLVED] Monitor not detected after kernel 5.0.17 upgrade

This turned out to be a cable issue, it seems that something went wonky with the USB-C > DP (USB-C is only the connector it isn't an actual thunderbolt port) cable. Unplugging it from the monitoring and using an HDMI cable solved the issue.

Re: Monitor not detected after kernel 5.0.17 upgrade

After messing about with this I am pretty sure this is a hardware issue, monitor is not detected in Fedora live either (really don't want to install Windows on this thing, it makes my teeth itch).

Thanks for all the help :)

Re: Monitor not detected after kernel 5.0.17 upgrade

Thanks, sadly no dice. Yeah I made a bootable USB with Win10 on it, but it don't seem to wanna boot up, gonna try making one with the Dell recovery utility at work (no Windows in my household ;) ). If issue is hardware then such is life, at least internal screen still works so not like this thing is...

Re: Monitor not detected after kernel 5.0.17 upgrade

No dice... I'm starting to suspect a hardware problem, onboard diagnostics freeze on GPU memory test when external is plugged in (pass just fine unplugged). I'm going to try installing Windows (if I can figure out how to do it, since I nuked recovery partition and pre-installed Win10 on day1) and se...

Re: Monitor not detected after kernel 5.0.17 upgrade

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried reverting to a previous kernel last night, same issue. Also tested using HDMI output instead of DP to rule out cable issues, ruled out monitor being the culprit by plugging it into my other machine (that one is headless usually though and runs Ubuntu so no GUI). At...

[SOLVED] Monitor not detected after kernel 5.0.17 upgrade (was hardware not software)

TURNED OUT TO BE A STRANGE CABLE ISSUE, SEE LAST POST Tried searching the internet and on this forum and was unable to find anything to help. Went from kernel 4.18 to 5.0.17 on a Dell Latitude and now the external monitor (4K LG if that's somehow relevant) is not detected (worked fine previously). ...

Re: Mint 19 Cinnamon panel doesn't disappear on full screen programs

Same exact problem, completely fresh install (no /home saved) and unless panel is in auto hide mode it will not disappear in full screen. I should add that mine is on top of the screen mac style. None of the suggestions in the thread help either.

Logitech tilt wheel to go back/forward not working

Tried Googling this but none of the solutions seem to work. I have a Logitech M720 and I cannot find a way to map tilt wheel to back/foward. The action is mapped as b:8 and b:9 and it will allow me to change the tabs if I hover over them. Any help is highly appreciated.

Re: Sound in Mint 19 Cinnamon

I had something similar, and mostly fixed it by adding below to /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf options snd-hda-intel model=<your model> You can get the list from here: http://git.alsa-project.org/?p=alsa-kernel.git;a=blob;f=Documentation/sound/alsa/HD-Audio-Models.txt;hb=HEAD In my case the sound works ...
