Cannot mount/view Android phone in 20.1
After upgrading from Linux Mint 20 to 20.1 (Cinnamon) I cannot mount my phone, or maybe I can mount it but can't look at it. Phone is Google Pixel 3 running Android 11. Steps to reproduce: - Connect phone to computer via USB C cable - In USB Preferences on phone, select File transfer / Android Auto ...

Re: LM-20 boot issues: Initramfs unpacking failure & ACPI BIOS Error
That can be fixed but shouldn't be ignored. https://linuxmint.com/rel_ulyana_cinnamon.php Read the section titled Solving freezes during the boot sequence , but where it says to use nomodeset , you need to use pci=noaer . You can ignore the references to nVidia cards for now. I'm getting similar er...

Re: Wireless fail with 19.3
One thing you can try is turn Power Management off, #2.1 here: https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.com/p/internet.html#ID2.1 I did this yesterday and haven't had problems since. Given the sporadic nature of the beast I'm hesitant to declare victory but will mark this solved and open a new thread ...

Re: Wireless fail with 19.3
Possibly a USB problem? I'm now seeing some other problems with USB devices: a drive that's gone offline a couple times, a webcam that needed unplugging and replugging.

Re: Wireless fail with 19.3 and 19.2
After about six weeks of nearly trouble free wifi using Linux Mint 19.2, suddenly I'm getting frequent failures again. I think I'm seeing (I haven't yet verified this very carefully but I think I've seen it multiple times) these symptoms: If on a fresh restart I go into terminal and ping somewhere, ...

Wireless fail with 19.3 [solved]
I upgraded to Linux Mint 19.3 when it left beta in December, and for almost a month I suffered from Wi-Fi outages. I am using a Panda Wireless PAU09 N600 adapter which had given me good service for about a year; suddenly it was almost impossible to get through a single day without Wi-Fi grinding to ...

Re: Panda adapter stopped working
I'm surprised something so simple as restarting network-manager worked, because I'd already rebooted; should not network-manager get restarted on a reboot? Anyway, seems to be working. Thanks.

Re: Panda adapter stopped working
Per viewtopic.php?f=53&t=309199 I checked SecureBoot and it is disabled.
Per viewtopic.php?f=53&t=309219 I did rfkill list and saw phy0: Wireless LAN was soft blocked. rfkill unblock wifi changed that but Wi-Fi is still unavailable.

Panda adapter stopped working [SOLVED]
I have a system whose internal wireless card was giving me problems, so I started using a Panda Wireless PAU09 N600 adapter; it's served well for months. After upgrading to Linux Mint 19.3 Cinnamon it started having trouble, losing the connection until I unplugged and replugged it. Today it's stoppe...

Re: hddtemp a password is required
The very first step there is "I tested that I could run hddtemp as root (not as a sudoer)" by running it in su. On my system there is no root password set. Is that the problem?

hddtemp a password is required
Since upgrading to Linux Mint 19.3 I have been getting this error:
12:14:07 sudo: rsholmes : a password is required ; TTY=unknown ; PWD=/home/rsholmes ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/usr/sbin/hddtemp -nq -u C /dev/sdb
Have no idea how to deal with it.

Errors on boot
Apologies if this is posted in the wrong place, and apologies for the vague subject line. I'm not sure what the problem is or how serious it is. Using Linux Mint 19.3 I see the following errors at boot time appearing in the logs: 11:49:40 pulseaudio: [pulseaudio] pid.c: Daemon already running. 11:49...

Re: Epson WF-3520 "Could not send command to scanner"
Thanks to all! After linking libsane-epkowa* into the /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/sane directory, Image Scan is now working. Simple Scan and XSane are not. Strange. But it's Image Scan I was asking about so I will mark this as solved. Edit to add: After doing this: generate '/etc/udev/rules.d/79-udev-...

Re: Epson WF-3520 "Could not send command to scanner"
I will just relate my experience with Epson all in one, though not your model number. This goes back a couple years and not sure whether still pertinent, but I found ufw was blocking scanner communications. I had to enter ufw exceptions for both in and out. sudo ufw allow to <ip address> and, sudo ...

Re: Epson WF-3520 "Could not send command to scanner"
Yes, I've been using this WF-3520 for ages on this network, the network connection is fine. I printed the check network connection page earlier to get the IP address for epkowa.conf, and I confirmed the IP address (from the Mint machine) using ping. And the printer function works from Mint, just not...

Re: Epson WF-3520 "Could not send command to scanner"
With the unit powered on, does scanimage -L identify your WF-3520 correctly? Does Simple Scan work ? No, and no. $ scanimage -L No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different, check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the sane-find-scanner tool (if appr...

[SOLVED] Epson WF-3520 "Could not send command to scanner"
I am trying to get the scanner side of my wifi connected Epson WF-3520 working with Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon. I downloaded iscan-bundle-1.0.4.x64.deb.tar.gz from Epson, extracted, and ran the install script. No errors noted. Packages iscan_2.30.3-1_amd64, iscan-data_1.39.0-1_all, and iscan-network-nt_...

Re: Unicode entry and Compose key do not work
Frankly this is not a large enough concern for me to want to reinstall and reconfigure the OS. I was hoping someone could point out a settings change I'd overlooked or some other such fix.
