Re: Keeping software on your OS..

I have what may be a bad habit.. I keep software on mint. What I mean is, I have 3 word processors, 3 web browsers, and other software I hardly use. Same here, I don’t think that's a bad practice, its good to have options, especially ones that are insta ready to use, not just if a program starts mi...

Re: PPSSPP stuck in fullscreen

HI
normally you just double click anywhere within the PPSSPP window to exit or enter full-screen, or that isn't working as well?
try editing the file ppsspp.ini located normally in

Code: Select all

~/.config/ppsspp/PSP/SYSTEM
look for:
[Graphics]

FullScreen = False

well played lol, I took the bait & clicked expecting some flames
yeah LMDE3 is nice, & arguably faster, but I'm sticking to Mint 18.3 for the time being, because It earned my trust, after all we been through together, It deserves another year

Re: How to prevent external hard drive full of win malware, virus etc infecting my linux OS?

You've got a strangely limited understanding of malware. It doesn't need to live and work anywhere. Say it's a Windows ransomware, then running through Wine it can encrypt your entire home/user folder no questions asked. You can also configure auto-starts, change file associations, etc. without eve...

Re: How to prevent external hard drive full of win malware, virus etc infecting my linux OS?

Assuming it has same security holes as Windows Assuming Wine does get windows viruses, Assuming that virus can escape & reach beyond WINE environment, then assuming that Virus is cross-platform enough to live & work in Linux ecosystem...Assuming It can molest (or come anywhere near) system director...

Re: Virtual machine security?

It depends on what you're doing in the virtual, my host crashed because of things I was doing in the virtual many times in the past, so I think there is no real 100% "safety by isolation", but yeah running a suspicious program/code in there ,is way more secure than running directly on the machine.

I use conky to monitor up/download speed, try it out, unless you're looking for something more techy & detailed (looking at that software i assume you aren’t)

Multiple kernel versions

mnm, this is probably noobish
I’ve used distros that keep multiple kernel versions, usually easily selected in grub, is this erm..a thing?
& if it is,is there a good a reason why this isn't done in Mint?
& if it is a good thing to do, how do you manually do it?

Re: Firefox issues - latest update (62.03)

62.03 running just fine here, i suggest trying firefox -safe-mode before thinking of rolling back its likely that corrupt data in your settings caused the problem if that's the case reinstalling/rolling-back Firefox would not fix it, use the Profile Manager to create a new profile. If the problem go...

MATE is most definitely lighter than Cinnamon, Cinnamon looks better & way more modern, that's just out of the box, MATE can be customized to look just as cool, not sure if Cinnamon can be customized to be lighter though

Re: How to keep only 'Mint-Y-Dark theme' ?

Another way would be to delete the extra folders in order to keep only 'mint-y-dark' in the /usr/share/themes folder and likely other theme-associated folders (icons, background images, etc...). This would work. But why? Themes don't use much space really, they must've done something to piss him of...
