Re: Flash works in LXDE 12 but not in Cinamon 14.1?
OK, finally I *think* I am on to something. My old computer's cpu lacks sse2 support and the latest versions of Adobe Flash don't work without sse2. More information here https://wiki.debian.org/FlashPlayer/ and here [url]http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=697339[/url]. If I replace Fl...

Re: Flash works in LXDE 12 but not in Cinamon 14.1?
It has been a while but other matters had to be dealt with. The reason for coming back to this is a recent up-date made Flash stop working in LXDE 12. Thinking my Nvidia graphics card might be involved in this a I removed it and now run using the GPU on the motherboard of this computer. Still no Fla...

Re: Slideshow may kill your installation script and work-aro
I have the same problem with installation of mint 14/14.1. On an old computer that originally was running Mate 13 I tried to move to Mate 14.1 but is failing as described in this post. Also XFCE 14 RC has the same problem. With Mate 13 no problems I tried it to be sure. I will try the suggestions m...

Flash works in LXDE 12 but not in Cinamon 14.1?
Hello, I am trying out Mint as a replacement for an ailing Ubuntu system and after having solved an install problem with 14.1 this weekend I just started som use testing (is Cinamon too heavy for old HW etc). To my surprise I can not get Flash to work in 14.1. Everything seem to be installed and rea...

Slideshow may kill your installation script and work-around
Hello all, I have been away from Mint for some considerable time but I am back now and on the mission to find a Linux flavour for upgrading a relative's dated Ubuntu system. Mint seems like a good choice so I am trying out 14.1 on my secondary computer. I had great problems installing and even thoug...

Re: How big is your Linux Mint 6 XFCE install?
I have investigated a little and I think my original observation is caused by the inner workings of VirtualBox. I was judging the size of the installation by looking at the size of the HDs of the virtual machines as seen by the host system. I have now looked at disk usage from inside the guest syste...

How big is your Linux Mint 6 XFCE install?
I am testing on a VM as I write and to my surprise I find the XFCE version of Mint to be bigger (by about 1 GB) than both the standard Mint and Ubuntu 8.10. I have only installed what's on the CD ISO and run updates. No extra packages added.
I find this odd. Any comments?

The XFCE edition aims at being very low on memory, but not on the expense of quality The gnome version runs OK on 384 MB but from 512 up is nice to have I know this is an old thread but it comes close to my question: What difference is there between installing XFCE on a 'vanilla' Linux Mint system ...

Re: [Solved] oobase wizzard broken?
No, 2.3.1 this time which may explain the snappiness but it does not explain the better integration into xfce's menu. I guess someone was in a hurry when preparing the Ubuntu package.

Re: [Solved] oobase wizzard broken?
I just did what those instructions told me to do and it worked like a charm.
The result is much better than the Ubuntu-OOo that came with Mint!

Re: oobase wizzard broken?
I got a quick reply on OOs forum for oobase: "Very often, Linux distros use a different build as the official one. You should try the official (Sun) version, see here: install the official version of OOo : [Ubuntu] Installing OOo on Debian and Co." The "see here" points at http:/...

[Solved] oobase wizzard broken?
Last weekend I started to look into OpenOffice's database tool, oobase. I struggled a bit before I found some nice tutorials and how-tos. Creating a table by using the wizzard was OK. Adding some data to the table worked fine. Time to create a report. Wizzard fires up -- not! If I invoke oobase from...

Am I using 4.0?
I installed 3.0 this summer and I keep it up to date.
Does this mean I am running 4.0 by now?
If not, what are the differences between my system and 4.0?

Region free DVD HW?
I have just learned that DVD r/w-units can have region specific firmware:

Does anyone out there know how one figures this out from Linux?
The tool mentioned in that article is a Windows app.

Try their IRC channel. And you are sure you installed Music CD support for Windows 2000? I thought this 'feature' was off per default on NT4 and Win2K and needed to be installed extra .... I may be wrong though. Thanks scorp, I'll try out the IRC channel as well. I don't use Windows a whole lot and...
