Evolution: display calendar and inbox

Is there a way to display the Evolution calendar and mail inbox simultaneously, side-by-side?

Re: Video stutter in Mint 20 Mate

This is precisely the kind of rude, unhelpful brush-off response that gives these forums a bad name.

Re: Changing panel text color and size

I switched back to the standard theme, and indeed, you are correct, the text reverted to black. But it's still very small, so I'd like to increase the font size as well. It would be nice to be able to configure this sort of thing with the Dconf Editor. But it's having no effect.

Changing panel text color and size

I have Linux Mint Mate 20. I regularly have to switch from English to Hebrew or Arabic keyboard layouts, using the panel tray. Unfortunately, the keyboard layout text ('en', or whatever) appears in white, while all other panel text is black. So however I set the background colour, either the keyboar...

Video stutter in Mint 20 Mate

Since upgrading to 20, I've been experiencing stutter when playing mp4, mkv, etc. video files. The video stutters but the audio does not, so that the audio gets increasingly out of sync with the video. This happens whether I use Celluloid, Media Player or VLC. I've tried turning off compositing, but...

Re: 'nofail' warning

Thanks for the reply Arvy, but I'm not proficient enough to follow the fix suggested in the bug report. Or is it saying that a patch will come out sooner or later via system updates? If so, please let me know and I will wait.

'nofail' warning

Since upgrading to Linux Mint Mate 20, I've been getting a warning when I boot, just before I type the passphrase to unlock disk encryption: 'ignoring unknown option 'nofail''. (A bunch of other error/warning messages flash on the screen before this, but they disappear too fast for me to read them.)...

Re: Does Plank need a particular Window Manager?

The problem seems to be when I put it on 'Autohide'. It won't come back when I move the cursor over it.

Does Plank need a particular Window Manager?

Everybody seems to describe Plank as simple and stable. I tried it on my Linux Mint 20 Mate desktop and it keeps crashing. I'm wondering, does it need a particular Window Manager? I'm using Marco - no compositing. If that's not it, how do I diagnose what's causing it to crash? And why is it crashing...

Re: cryptsetup and Upgrade to LM20

Thanks for the reply. However, the fstab file itself has no mention of a 'nofail' option. It must be coming from somewhere else.

Re: cryptsetup and Upgrade to LM20

I hope I'm not hijacking this topic, but I'm a relatively unsophisticated Linux user, and I'm having a problem after upgrade to Linux Mint 20 Mate. My hard disk is encrypted. When I boot, just before I enter the hard disk decryption password, I now get a message 'cryptsetup ... ignoring option nofai...

Re: mintupgrade download -- why?

Hi Dorset, I understand that mintupgrade download does not actually do the upgrade. I'm just wondering, what's the point of the download command if the download is recapitulated in the upgrade? I'm wondering if it's supposed to be that way, and if not, could this give me some clue as to why the upgr...

mintupgrade download -- why?

Yesterday I tried the upgrade, and it failed. What I'm curious about is that I ran mintupgrade download, and then when I ran mintupgrade upgrade, everything downloaded all over again (before terminating with an error). Why does the tutorial tell you to run mintupgrade download when mintupgrade upgra...

Re: Linux Mint 20 success or issues

Yesterday I ran mintupgrade download. Then when I ran mintupgrade upgrade, it downloaded everything all over again. So the download step was a waste of time. Could that possibly be correct?

Re: Linux Mint 20 success or issues

I had the upgrade exit with an error yesterday, despite following the upgrade instructions to the letter. There were no problems on mintupgrade check, and it got through mintupgrade download without a hitch. I have the Mate desktop, not Cinnamon. Can someone please verify that the upgrade instructio...

Re: Bluetooth not working

My bluetooth audio was initially working fine under Mint 19, but some update seems to have broken it. Bluetooth scans and finds the speakers, having already been correctly paired to them. But when I try to connect it, it connects briefly and then immediately disconnects. Kern.log shows repeated erro...

Re: Timeshift and required file systems?

Thanks for the quick answer, Haveamint. One further comment/question. I see nothing in Timeshift documentation about encryption: this seems to be a serious gap. If someone gets ahold of an external storage device with your snapshots on it, that would be a colossal security breach. So, if I use gpg m...

Re: Timeshift and required file systems?

I hope this is sufficiently on-topic. I'm just starting to use timeshift, and I'm unclear on how the incremental (rsync) backing up works. I'm keeping the snapshots on a usb drive, in case my system gets fubar, and I'm worried about eventually running out of room. If I delete older snapshots (using ...

What exactly would be the Mesa version number I should go back to, if I want to downgrade with the apt install command?
