Re: Slow down CPU speed?
This will do basically nothing the resolve your issue.
You need distance.
Get a remote keyboard and mouse. With wires, not wireless.
Move your computer as far from you as possible.

Re: Disable touchpad
Ok. Now I'm confused. Couldn't find synaptics. Yet is is installed. And the 20.1 release notes clearly state that when installed it takes priority. :~$ synclient TouchpadOff=1 Couldn't find synaptics properties. No synaptics driver loaded? :~$ apt install xserver-xorg-input-synaptics Reading package...

Re: Disable touchpad
Thank you for the suggestion.
It looks like that is simply an alternate GUI for the settings that already do not work correctly.
And I'd prefer to not add random repositories.

Re: Disable touchpad
All you have to do in Cinnamon is go to Menu>Preferences>Mouse and Touchpad> click on the touchpad tab second Item is turn tracpad off when mouse is connected. That should do it I know that's all that I should need to do. As I wrote in my original post, I do that and the touchpad remains active no ...

Disable touchpad
I want to disable my touchpad when I have a mouse plugged in. There is an option for this in the Mouse and Touchpad control app. The option is on. However the touchpad remains active. There is also an option to disable the touchpad completely. However the touchpad remains active regardless of this s...

20.1 will not boot
LM 20.1 will not boot anymore. If I go to special options and select the generic option boot hangs on "Loading Initial RAM Disk". If I select recovery mode the system boots ok. If I then resume to normal boot Cinnamon starts fine. The only problem is no graphics acceleration. I have Timesh...

Re: xargs doing nothing
The clue that you are missing is that Linux is case sensitive, Nope, I'm quite aware of that. Searching for "*.JPG" because that is what I want to search for because that is how my camera names the files - with caps. And anyway, Now the command is working as expected. The only thing that ...

Re: Upgrade to 20 - remove unneeded Python3.8
ollowing up: For multiple reasons, when Mint 20.1 was released I elected to do a clean install. Then I (appear to) have successfully installed Python 3.9.1 with a synthesis of methods from: https://tecadmin.net/install-python-3-8-ubuntu/ https://stackoverflow.com/questions/40434550/compiling-python-...

Re: Upgrade to 20 - remove unneeded Python3.8
Thanks.
Seems far easier to "not worry about it" for now since it doesn't seem to be creating any problems, and trying to "fix" it very well could cause problems.

Upgrade to 20 - remove unneeded Python3.8
While running 19.3 I had installed python3.8 using the instruction here: https://tecadmin.net/install-python-3-8-ubuntu/ In short, sudo make altinstall The upgrade to 20 left that install in place, so now I have two python 3.8.2 installations me:~$ which python3 /usr/bin/python3 me:~$ python3 -V Pyt...
