Manually creating a starter on desktop - requires to mark it as "trusted"
For some time now there's this new very annoying feature in Cinnamon (IDK in which version it was introduced, though) - when you're manually creating a shortcut (name.desktop) on the desktop, you have to run it and then click "mark as trusted", otherwise it will return an error running the...

Re: Where does Cinnamon look for icons when the icons don't exist in the icons theme?
Thanks. Took me a while but I found them. But now there appears to be another problem: there's something that's changing their color - a layer of some sort. Kind of like color inversion but not exactly. This is how these two icons should look like now: https://i.ibb.co/VQyxCyz/network-wired-symbolic...

Where does Cinnamon look for icons when the icons don't exist in the icons theme?
I'm still trying to replace some of the tray icons with more beautiful ones. But I'm having trouble with finding these two icons: https://i.ibb.co/3mjs8g1/Picture-created-04-01-2021-18-32-00.png The first icon is for network. I'm using Humanity Dark icon theme but that icon doesn't exist there. The ...

LightDM - auto restart X server?
Hi. Do you know if there's a way (probably in the lightdm config file) to tell LightDM to automatically restart the X server (just once, not in a loop) when the login screen appears upon system startup? Long story short, upon system startup I can't login after entering my password and instead of the...

Re: Is this a normal behavior?
it's most probably an bug, with your video driver, since it's only on some videos, and not on all of them. I did some personal research and now I don't think it's a bug. When the user has set to show the album cover as an icon and a YT video is running, this icon appears only if the uploader of the...

Is this a normal behavior?
I just noticed something weird with YouTube that I've never seen before on Cinnamon. When I pause a video on YouTube, the audio icon is normal looking like a CD - the way I've set it to be displayed. But when I click "play", it changes to a weird icon: https://i.imgur.com/K5fiqDV.png It ha...

Remove cobi's applet and you won't see the dots.

Re: Linux mint 20 not shutting down
When you press the shutdown button, acpi=force forces all hardware (fans included) to shut down too, otherwise they keep running. You make this change to grub, not to kernel, so kernel update won't affect it.

Re: How to disable 3 dots in windows title names and square brackets for minimized windows?
CobiWindowsList isn't what it used to be anymore. Try grouped-window-list@cinnamon.org. It makes the panel icons look and behave like those in Windows 7+ with some features the Windows icons don't have.

Re: Default sound output to main monitor
If it were nvidia, maybe I would be able to help you. But IDK about AMD GPUs. The best advise I can give you is to Google for AMD open source graphics card driver (the word is that it's a lot better than the proprietary) and try with it. If it still doesn't work the way you want, try and find any fo...

Re: Linux mint 20 not shutting down
Apparently nobody knows that the not shutting down is a problem of communication between grub and kernel. No offense, guys. :) But no worries, it's easily fixable. The easiest way is to install grub-customizer, run it, click on "General settings" tab and in the box that reads "kernel/...

Re: How to turn off the hold-&-let-go function with context menus?
Interesting. I'm using Cinnamon for 4 years already (ever since I migrated to Linux) and never had this problem with context menus (I started with Cinnamon 3.6, went through your version and now I'm on 4.8.0). To me it sounds like a broken package or maybe a glitchy program. Have you tried the comma...

Selected font for desktop doesn't use Bold? (4.8.0)
I'm not sure whether this is a global bug for everyone or is it just a problematic package on my end, so I'm asking here first before I report it on github. The problem is that all the fonts of desktop icons appear to be Regular. I'm using the same font literally everywhere I can because I like it a...

Re: [SOLVED] Making KDE apps to accept the dark theme in Cinnamon?
There is a great screen capture application called "Ksnip" which can also open existing images that you might try. The developer has been excellent with incorporating people's suggestions including mine about adding features I liked from Kolourpaint, etc... Thanks but I don't need it. I'm...

Re: [SOLVED] Making KDE apps to accept the dark theme in Cinnamon?
I found a way and I'll post the solution here, in case someone else is Googling for the same thing: 1. Do as described in the first post here: https://rebornos.freeforums.net/thread/176/qt-qpa-platformtheme-environment-variable 2. Open Qt5ct and make your desired settings for dark themes. 3. Run any...

what errors you get dragging the .appimages in a Terminal Just the address to the appimage but that's not important anymore bc I'll just unpack the appimage and figure it out from there what to do next in order to make it run. Though having to unpack the appimage happens rarely bc in most cases I f...

[SOLVED] Making KDE apps to accept the dark theme in Cinnamon?
Does anyone have an idea how to make a few KDE apps to accept the dark theme I've made myself for Cinnamon? In Cinnamon 3.6 and 3.8 these KDE applications appeared dark with silver icons - just the way I want them to be now. I've tried different things so far and nothing worked, so I figured it woul...

rightclick on the .appimage > properties > Permissions and ENABLE CHECK for Execute: Allow executing file as program I know that. It's not the issue.
