Re: All Desktop Screenshots of 2019

And, the results are in! Just as many of you like the one with the labels, as do the others of you who think it looks better without them. Making that, of course, a tie. What a distressing position that puts me in.. Now I'll have to come up with more samples to post and get more opinions so that I c...

All Desktop Screenshots of 2019

Well, I asked in my last post in the 2018 thread if it would be alright to start a 2019 thread, but got no reply, so here goes. Anyway, I've been messing around a bit with the dual oval template, and I could really use some opinions/input about which style looks better, to you. I realize that out of...

Re: All Desktop Screenshots of 2018

And then for those wallpapers that are a misc. size that don't really fit into any one cubbyhole, I made this template. Works out rather nicely for displaying 4 at a time.... https://i.imgur.com/JZULPXc.jpg https://i.imgur.com/IqCa2qe.jpg BTW, since it's now 2019 should I make a new post titled 'All...

Re: All Desktop Screenshots of 2018

I have this dual monitor setup because it lets me watch movies on the left monitor, while I do email, surf the web, whatever, on the right side at the same time. It's also great for using the terminal on the left while having a webpage open on the right to be able to follow an instructional or somes...

Re: All Desktop Screenshots of 2018

So I ran across some of my old 1920x1080 wallpapers that I wanted to put up on my desktop, and after some graphical gymnastics, I've come up with a way to display them on my dual monitor setup that is a bit more than just the average way to throw them up there. I'll post one example below. It goes a...

Re: [Solved]Modern Panel + Is there a close all option?

Here are versions of both scripts with an exclusion list with gkrellm excluded...................... Well done! I appreciate the effort you put into this, and will use it daily. You may now go to your local pub and have one on me. Just tell the barkeep to put it on my tab! (But be sure to stand clo...

Re: [Solved]Modern Panel + Is there a close all option?

The gkrellm line output is:

0x07000003 0 chaser-mint gkrellm

I should probably mention that I'm only using the close_all_windows_in_workspace.sh script..

Re: [Solved]Modern Panel + Is there a close all option?

Fantastic script, thanks for sharing!! I do have a question, however @smurphos . Is there a way to have the script exclude one window that is open? I would like to have all open windows/programs closed except for Gkrellm when I run the script. Is this possible?

Re: All Desktop Screenshots of 2018

I have a dual monitor setup, two identical brands and sizes of 24" monitors, giving me a total area of 3840x1080. The thing that has always bugged me was how large wallpapers were displayed when set to span the monitors. The walls would be cut in half, the entire full left half displayed on the left...

Re: Dual Boot

Hi, Thanks for your reply, I did look at that program but I couldn't install it to my Windows 10? The file I extracted was a .CDR, maybe that is what you install to iOS Cheers, Boot into Linux Mint, then install it there. Full instructions are at https://www.rodsbooks.com/refind/installing.html You...

Re: Cinnamon Problems After Upgrade - Thunderbird & Favorites Menu

Alright, thanks! I would have thought if it was going to hang and freeze as described, it would do it right away. If you sent an email to yourself, with a large attachment, then you'd know in short order. In any event, we shall see what the future holds..

Re: Cinnamon Problems After Upgrade - Thunderbird & Favorites Menu

In any case, your advice was well meant and greatly appreciated. Since it cost me nothing to try it, I have. Except I did not bother with the email messages (I saved them first). So, my installation is brand, spanking new… well, I have to admit I copied my address book back (but not the whole profi...

Re: Cinnamon Problems After Upgrade - Thunderbird & Favorites Menu

The issue for me is this problem seems clearly connected to Linux Mint 19.1 — it only happened after I installed 19.1 and started out always freezing after a "send". <snipped> I do not do "upgrade"s to new releases. Instead I have my disk partitioned with a "/" partition and a separate "/home" part...

Is there a difference between "hiding the dock of Ubuntu permanently" and just deleting the panel, as I described?

Re: Cinnamon Problems After Upgrade - Thunderbird & Favorites Menu

Might I suggest that you make a backup of your profile folder, as described above, then uninstall Thunderbird. You should do a full and complete uninstall using the terminal, and the commands of sudo apt-get --purge remove thunderbird and once that completes, just to be safe, run the command of sudo...

Re: Dual Boot

Well, at this point, the only thing I can think of is that perhaps you might look into a very good program called rEFInd. That should enable you to start your computer, and select whatever OS you want to boot into. I used it for a few months, and was very pleased with the way it worked, and how easy...

Re: I Want to Blank my Screen as a Screensaver

I understand. Then my only suggestion is to see if you can adjust the screenlocker (which is what kicks in when the screensaver is activated) to display a black only screen.

Re: I Want to Blank my Screen as a Screensaver

By 'blank screen' do you mean a pure black screen? If yes, then maybe you could set the screenlocker to display just a black screen. Would that work for you?
