Change pop-up color?

Is there a way I can change this yellowish color that apears in "pop-ups" and other places? White would look so much better. LM19 with default cinammon.

Question about HDMI audio [Nvidia]

So I don't actually have a problem, quite the opposite actually. I finally got everything set up perfectly in my dual boot with LM 19v2 and Windows 10. There is an absolute night and day difference in sound quality between the two OS's. LM19 blows Windows out of the water. It's clean, crisp, powerfu...

Custom menu category icons in Mint 19/Cinnamon

trying to create my own menu entry and it is not working as you can see from the picture. The icon won't show up. How do I fix this? Can't figure out what size it wants.

I like Mailspring. It's beautiful and modern. I'm not a fan of "lean" programs, I like works of art. :P

Re: Flatpaks v Snaps v Repos (Solved)

I prefer Snaps because they "can" go outside of their sandbox, which allows easier access to other folders (media sharing programs, office/dev suites that need to access different files stored on say external storage) and hardware (like gamepads) without fancy workarounds. I think Linux is at the st...

Re: Recommended hardware for new Linux PC build?

For storage, I have a 128GB SSD with a 1 TB HDD. I REALLY wish I knew I could put my home folder on a partition on the external drive when I installed, would have made my life immeasurably easier. Live and learn. When I build it, I have a 512GB M2 SSD I'll use as my root drive, with home folder on t...

Re: Recommended hardware for new Linux PC build?

Thanks everyone for the replies. I "really" want a Ryzen setup, it's what my heart is set on, but I think my aversion to problems is going to outweigh my desire on this one. So probably going to stick with my GPU and get a new Intel CPU/MB/RAM. I guess now I need to decide on which CPU to get. Does ...

Should I keep my current CPU and pair it with a new CPU?
It isn't clear what you mean.

Cheers.
Woops, that was supposed to be, keep the current GPU. Yeah, don't think that was gonna compile as written :P

Recommended hardware for new Linux PC build?

Alrighty, hopefully this is an easy one. Currently I have the following setup: Intel i5 4460 8GB DDR3 Nvidia GTX 960 MSI H81M-P33 motherboard This "was" a decent setup for what I am trying to use my PC for: "native" gaming with Steam, and gaming on Android using an Emulator (Genymotion). Thing is th...

Re: [FIX] no swap on fresh LM19 install with home directory encryption

Wow, don't I feel like a newb now.

$ sudo swapon --show
[sudo] password for cortimi:
NAME TYPE SIZE USED PRIO
/dev/dm-0 partition 2G 0B -2

Does that look good? I have 8GB of RAM and I crash a LOT from running out of memory (using Android emulators), so I hope this fixes things!

Re: [FIX] no swap on fresh LM19 install with home directory encryption

Went through the steps, however: $ sudo update-initramfs -u update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-4.15.0-29-generic W: initramfs-tools configuration sets RESUME=UUID=2adde1e7-6685-48ad-8b0c-2b76c347adba W: but no matching swap device is available. swapon --show doesn't return anything. $ ls ...

[Solved] Recovering an ext4 partition on external USB drive

Alrighty, here's what happened: Linux Mint 19 64 bit installed on internal 120GB SSD, 3TB WD HDD attached via USB. I formatted the WD using "Disks" in Linux Mint with the "internal storage ext4 option". Everything was groovy. Imported 500GB of goodies from another source to that WD drive. I followed...

Re: New to linux, how do I use an external drive?

Plex is a lost cause. Plex can "see" the folder, but can't do anything with it. Won;t load any media. Their forums are not helpful at all, all I got from them was a link to "go read what permissions do" that don;t actually give any advice on creating forward progress with the issue at hand. Also tri...

Re: New to linux, how do I use an external drive?

Ok, uninstalled the Flatpak, installed the normal one. Every time I launch Steam the drive unmounts, but if I double click it again in Nemo it remounts normally and Steam can finally see it! Makes since, 'Paks being sandboxed and all. Two down one to go! Thanks so much for the help so far. I am so f...

Re: New to linux, how do I use an external drive?

Right, forwhatever reason, Firefox works on this boot, so that's one down. The other two that can't see it are Steam and Plex.
