Gnome Online Accounts GDrive logout itself

I am using Linux MInt Cinnamon 19.1 I have Gnome Online Accounts app installed and working. I was able to mount my Google Drive via NEMO. Proble: Google account log itself out automatically. I never log it out. It asks for sign in every now and then. When I sign in it doesn't sign in. I have to remo...

Re: Can not run VNC server on LM MATE

Thanks for your reply I was already able to setup/register/licence VNC server by some other guide. I was able to open GUI but it didn't show anything, never asks for password but shows ROOT is missing (but never asks for password, remember). The guide was a bit different but almost the same as you p...

Can not run VNC server on LM MATE

I am using Linux mint Cinnamon, 19.1, 64 bit on my Laptop. This laptop runs fine the version of realvnc server x64 by directly downloading the deb package from realvnc.com/download/vnc But another machine where I'm using a fresh install and updated Linux mint MATE 19.1, 64 bit at work computer, I am...

Re: is MATE lighter than Cinnamon?

You should tell your outcomes now. Have you tried both? I have kind of similar configuration as yours i3, 4GB, 1TB But my opinion is quite different from the others. My Cinnamon (19.1) used to load in similar time as compared to windows 10 on my laptop. Also, it used to freeze and lag every now and ...

Re: Windows 10 vs Linux Mint

WOOH BigEasy is here. Thanks for the reply. I think you are quite right. But only RAM isn't enough I guess. i3 processors would never run windows 10 smoothly. My brother has 2 years older laptop than mine but it is i5 and it runs windows 10 much better (he also has external graphic card of 2 GB and ...

Windows 10 vs Linux Mint

So, the headline is quite common no? My story: I am a 14 years old Windows user who has used Windows OSs from XP to Windows 10. While I was on Windows 10 on my HP notebook (i3, 5th gen, 4GB RAM) I realised that multitasking had become a myth, it would hang/freeze no matter what. So, I installed Linu...

Re: [SOLVED] WiFi signal strength Linux Mint 19.1

SOLVED This is happening again -_- I resolved it. Rebooted, again strength gone, did not do anything in terminal this time, just removed "" from bad line in /etc/modprobe.d and rebooted. Strength is good now after 3 consecutive reboots. Looks like I'm playing with myself on the Linux Mint Forums. LO...

[SOLVED] WiFi signal strength Linux Mint 19.1

OK, so I am posting this 10th time I guess but everytime something happens. I moved to windows due to this and then in a day I again installed linux mint 19.1 (MATE in place of CINNAMON this time though). Wifi signal strength resolved after following this guide made by myself (yes, I made it :P) htt...

Re: System-wide ad-blocking

I don't think those ways would be safe to use. You know how to block ads in your browser already, don't you? Where else are you able to see the advertises? In android we see ads everywhere in apps (also the popups that are way too annoying) and hence we need good ad blockers like SEVEN AdClear, Blok...

Re: Error on BOOT UP libkmod: ERROR Linux Mint 19.1

I had to add

Code: Select all

options rtl8723be ant_sel=1
else the wifi strength issue was recurring. Thank you.

Re: Error on BOOT UP libkmod: ERROR Linux Mint 19.1

[UPDATE]

Solved.

The file you asked for etc/modprobe.d/...
That had just one line, I guess that one line was bad line. I deleted the line (so the file is empty now)
The error went away itself. Marking as solved, thank you very much.

Re: Error on BOOT UP libkmod: ERROR Linux Mint 19.1

content is of just one line it says “options rtl8723be ant_sel=1” [UPDATE] There was an unusual error while doing sudo modprobe -r rtl8723be but still it works and doing sudo modprobe -v rtl8723be ant_sel=1 solves the signal strength and then I made it permanent, no issue in that. But boot error did...

Re: Changing desktop environment

To get each experience separately, I humbly suggest that you try each version of Mint separately (on it's own). :) Mixing Desktop Environments (DE) has caused many problems for many users. Many apps/utilities can and will be duplicated, causing much confusion in the menu also. Here's a good read . ...

Re: Easiest way to share files between Android phone and Linux Mint XFCE over wifi?

Many file explorers now have dropped suppirt for older android versions. Simply because the way android used to handle explorers is changed now. Even most basic UI kind of FE like TOTAL COMMANDER do not support too old android versions. Cx is the thing I find more user friendly than TC/GC and is als...

Re: Best way to Backup and Restore Mint and Data

I use Aptik and Timeshift as part of my regular back-up routine . I tested restore , even though I didn't need to , and everything was perfect . I also use Clonezilla now and then , and keep the clone on a spare drive , but I don't update it so often . I've put a lot of work into my Linux system an...
