Nah - when you are bored with the oh-so reliable LinuxMint System: - you just fire up your spare dual_boot machine - to see what damage that win-woes has done: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=307017  making me wanna do dual booting of 2 linux distros at once to curb my bored...

Re: LM 20.1?

Hey, did somebody mention already that LM 20.1 will be out in a year? Yes, yes they did, several times. :P Anyway, to actually be constructive: New LM point release don't bring new hardware support. A newer kernel likely won't help you with that, either. In fact, Ubuntu's kernels have broader hardw...

Re: WIFI with cabled router?

update: the driver you gave me is the same one that i had installed before so i had low hopes going in. modprobe returns nothing no matter what i do. i tried to install it with your post because it was a different way of going about installing it (check out the link i posted about the previous one i...

Re: WIFI with cabled router?

@phd21: With the WiFi adapter plugged in, run "iwconfig" and check to see that power management saving is turned off. this is why i didnt mention much of my experience in already working with this. Ive had a few threads, even on here to try and get it working appropriately and im over the headache o...

Re: WIFI with cabled router?

Hi boyo1991, You are welcome... You still have not answered, what type of USB WiFi adapter do you have, make and model? It would help to know more about your system setup. With the network adapter plugged in, if you run " inxi -Fxzd " and " lsusb " from the console terminal prompt, highlight the re...

Re: Win 7 and Win 10

youll need to reinstall anyways due to that. (or at least i got too frustrated with it that i did) Good luck You mean i need to reinstall Windows 10 if i want to run it.Is there a secure installation source? what i mean is rolling releases have an issue: they are incomplete. i had to reinstall/reco...

Re: WIFI with cabled router?

Hi boyo1991, I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well. What type of USB WiFi adapter do you have, make and model? It would help to know more about your system setup. With the network adapter plugged in, if you run " inxi -Fxzd " and " lsusb " from the c...

WIFI with cabled router?

Im posting this here because I wasnt sure where else to post it. I have an issue, my wifi dongle isnt very compatible with linux. I know I could look into thinkpenguin, however I have another idea in mind.. What if i had like a router that connected with my modem wirelessly and connected from my rou...

Re: So i tried zorin and pop_os

I was disappointed when System76 decided to make their own distro. Maybe more than disappointed, borderline angry. There are hundreds of distros. There are at least a dozen good ones. They couldn't use one of those? If there was something else they wanted to do, they couldn't use all the developmen...

Re: How many are 100% Linux here?

I was in experimental stage for a long time, almost a year. I played around with other Linux distros, especially Zorin because I thought it be a better switch from Windows 10. I kept a dual boot machine with Windows 10 and finally with Mint Mate. The learning curve to getting used the the Linux lin...

Re: MInt and AMD: The desktop freezes almost within 15 seconds

you need this ppa for any amd/radeon hardware. Is this a ryzen only thing? You must also be meaning "this kernel and amd/radeon" as everything works just fine for me on fx series. (then again it could be a kernel thing) Id like to get more info on the live usb. OP says there were no freezes in inst...

Re: Win 7 and Win 10

when i WAS using windows... I prefered 7. I am not a fan of rolling releases personally. But if your talking about going BACK to wind-blows, you will HAVE to use windows 10. Undoubtably the reason your going back to it is because of software support and if you want that, the only option you have now...

Re: So i tried zorin and pop_os

I hear yah, I apologize if what I said was meant to be a recommendation to others. I am by no means a reviewer, merely felt like sharing my personal experience with the system. Yes, they work as a manufacturer too, but man, I cant use that to justify what I feel like I got, personally anyways.
