Re: Steam now lets you play Windows games on Linux

Games seem to be working fine with just the 390 drivers though I have only tested two so far with one being The Witcher 3. The screen tearing though in Cinnamon is horrible. I didn't know Cinnamon was still having issues with tearing otherwise I would have stuck with Mate. Sounds like next release ...

Re: Best way to mount SSD and HDD Advice?

Thanks for the advice, I think I have it set up how I like it, although even though I've set the HDD up to be mounted on startup Steam doesn't seem to recognise that its there until i manually go to 'Computer' on my desktop and at least select the HDD. Once I've done this then Steam recognises all t...

Best way to mount SSD and HDD Advice?

Potentially a big newbie question but got to start somewhere! :) I've been looking in to this for a while now and struggling to find a solution that I understand so hopefully someone else has a set up which is similar to what I want and can give some advice. I have a 125gb SSD which I am currently b...

Re: HDD won't mount [RESOLVED]

Ok I've resolved this to a certain degree, managed to recover the external hard drive in full 36000 files in total!! Unfortunately the recovery process did not keep files in any particular folder so iv'e got a job on my hands there. But having all my documents back has allowed me to completely forma...

Re: HDD won't mount

The error message that I reported related to my internal drive which has never been near Windows (sorry i admit my last post was a bit confusing), so presumably this has been removed somehow incorrectly? Funnily enough i did run chkdsk on my external drive (on windows) which has worked to a degree i...

Re: HDD won't mount

Have you perhaps connected this external drive to a Windows PC and then removed it without using the "Remove hardware" option in the system tray? If the disk is formatted as NTFS and not removed properly it will still be flagged as "In use" and therefore not available in Linux. You can only remove ...

Re: Hi from England

Thanks for the welcome everyone, hopefully I'll be able to get stuck in here. No doubt you'll be hearing lots of questions from me to start with but looking forward to the day i actually know what I'm talking about with this OS! Which version of MInt are you using? I'm currently running Linux Mint 1...

Re: HDD won't mount

Yeah I'm straying away from formatting the internal HDD although every part of me wants to do that as i'm pretty sure once its formatted I'd be able to mount it again, but in doing so id lose a lot of photos. Having both my back up and internal storage out of use is making me a bit nervous so I'll b...

Re: Steam now lets you play Windows games on Linux

I'm of two minds about it. I have a few games in my library that are Windows-only—which were included in some bundle with Linux games I wanted. Nice that I can play them now, an unexpected bonus, but would I buy them separately if they didn't support Linux natively? I'm not sure. Yeah that's how im...

Re: Steam now lets you play Windows games on Linux

This is exciting! I was contemplating buying a larger hard drive and running a dual boot with Windows just so that I could game more but the thought of having to run Windows on my custom PC wasn't sitting too great so I think I'll hold off on that for a while and see how this new Steam update handle...

Hi from England

Hi everyone, been a Linux user for a couple of years now since i built my own PC, initially chose Linux as a cost saving measure but over the past couple of years I have been getting more and more frustrated by my Windows laptop with its constant updates and general clunkiness so have started to get...

HDD won't mount [RESOLVED]

Hi there i'm fairly new to the Linux world so I will apologise in advance for any daft questions I may ask during this thread, and i also apologise for the length of the post, i appear to have made a mess of things and have found myself down a bit or a rabbit hole. Recently my external HDD has becom...
